Is Bonelab worth getting in 2025?

I want to play the game, since I recently bought and finished Boneworks. Excellent game, by the way.

And I heard that Bonelab is a "Garry's mod" but in VR.

So, I'm getting the game for the mods.

But I want to hear from those of you who have played the game. Is it worth it?

The game main purpose is sandbox and mods, the story is very short with linear levels compared to boneworks and has no open map levels like boneworks. It is a good game but it feels more like a tech demo for the new marrow engine slz is developing which is fine but i feel the price needs to be lowered.
In short if you want just mods and sandbox then bonelab is worth it, but if you want more story focus then its not

It is NOT worth 40, 20 would have been good.

The really stellar mods are almost non existent as most people are waiting for the SDK (incomplete and almost useless at launch in a game about modding...) to actually be finished.

The base game content is a roller coaster, most of it is okay, a little is awesome, and a small bit is straight up dog sh*t

If u think ya getting Boneworks, in Bonelab Forget it... The entire thing was "optimised" for the Quest headsets

The base game's sandbox is fine, mods can be fun for a bit though from my experience it gets fairly tiring. Base campaign is pretty awful. However, BONELAB is absolutely worth it with the BONELAB: Fusion code mod, though this requires downloading MelonLoader.

If it's story/atmosphere you're after get Boneworks. Its literally 1000x better than this.

get it, better mods, fusion (multiplayer mod) play for the story if you dont have anything else to do.

I think it is worth it. With the amount of mods it has endless possibilities. A lot of people hate bonelab cause they think it is worse than boneworks story wise but really bonelab wasn't meant for the store but for the mods. The story of bonelab is about lava gang and lava gang is the modding community that is cannon and so are all the mods. So I would say get it, but try to wait for a sale.

Boneworks has better levels and atmosphere, bonelab has better movement and gunplay, and also you feel like you can control your body better in bonelab than in boneworks as i stuggle alot in boneworks climbing stuff. When boneworks remaster comes out it will be peak

It’s really great IF you plan on modding. If not, boneworks is probably better. If you can get mods working it’s practically just better in every way, and you can play boneworks in the bonelab engine which is fun :)

3 years in and we still have the limited SDK and no full body tracking... Things they mentioned before the game came out. SLZ really dropped the ball on what feels like an early access high priced demo. Bless the modder's for making this game what it is because the devs called it in after doing a good job with BoneWorks.
