Bonelab on Quest store or on Steam?
It's a question asked over and over again: "should I buy a game on the quest store or on Steam". And now I'm here with the question myself 'cause I still can't decide whether I should buy it on Steam or the Quest store.

I've had the rift S for like 2 years, but last year after I swapped to another pc it kept crashing every 15 sec, and I've tried everything. So now after a long time without vr I decided to order a Quest 3. I've already got it delivered, but I'm still on vacation. With the Rift S you didn't have this problem with you having to decide where to buy. The answer for me was easy: Steam.
Now that I have a standalone headset, I'm really getting the ache to use it.

From what I know there are a few pros and cons to both. Steam is "future proof" and got steamVR which I honestly really like. Also these small things people wouldn't even consider important, but I love the achievements on Steam and the hour counter of play time on steamVR itself (it's so stupid, but somehow can't grow off of these things).

The quest store let's you have the game on standalone and pcvr when buying it once. I honestly would rather play pcvr, as I'm a person who likes good graphics and performance in games, but now that I can play games standalone, it has really grown onto me.

While I'm writing this it really starts to look like an easy answer, but even then I can't decide, so I'm writing this just for my own sanity now. So what should I do?

I might be biased, but I think steam is much better. Not only will you have better performance, but also quest three can use bluetooth to play without being wired so it's essentially the same as playing standalone. Also Im not sure the process for installing mods on standalone quest, but on steam it's very easy using mod.io.

Thanks for the reply. I honestly forgot about the fact that you can use airlink or steam link to connect to your pc, which would let me have that taste of freedom without a cable. But in reality, I don't see any problems in playing with a cable, especially if it lets me have better performance. I really just needed a shove into the right direction, I'm just happy I can get back into vr, thanks.

If you get it on quest standalone you get it for free on the quest pc app so you can get both. But I would probably go for standalone for traveling
