Compared to the First? Progression/Story?
The first had a story you could play/progress through, does this have that as well with the same progression? I know this one is more Players create worlds so is their content like that created by someone? Or is this pureley sandbox?
Hopping off Blade and Sorcery and am having to much fun with the Rogue like progression of that game and am looking for something similar but with guns.

Sort of, the campaign is short, it literally can take maybe 2 hour max probably with speed runs taking it down to a 38 min campaign, the main selling point on bonelab is the modding scene and it does it fairly good, with the new patch 4 around more SDK abilities for modders. This game also has collectibles like boneworks all of them being scattered around every level even sandbox ones. This may be what you’re looking for.

This game is much much MUCH less interesting to play than B&S. It IS the best gunplay in vr (at least until update 4 broke elbows) so it beats games like hard bullet. But I really dont think I'd recommend it at the eye watering 40 dollar price tag. 40 Dollars?
-The melee combat is laughable compared to b&s
-The NPC interactions are very physical feeling so hand to hand is fun, but otherwise you're just fighting a bunch of unarmed dudes with guns and npcs WITH guns are literally just robot mannequins.
-There also isint really PROGRESSION. You go from one area to the next and its a reset every time. Thats cause most 'missions' are sandbox levels with an ending. BoneWORKS is better in that regard as you gather more ammo and scavenge weapons through the levels. BW feels more lifeless though (not that bonelab is much better)
-B&S is genuinely the best vr game on the market. It already was BEFORE Crystal Hunt dropped.
-To answer your question about player made worlds, they only just gave us the tools to make custom levels. and it'll take a while for modders to make anything (if they even want to at this point)

40 dollars is just an unreasonable ask. Boneworks has the better campaign and the exact same npc interaction as bonelab. The modding? Guns mods are plentiful in both games. Avatars arent the biggest deal really you could do without them. I regret buying bonelab as an owner of boneworks tbh. I'd stick to B&S

I am genuinely obsessed with B&S, and after doing a little research on Bonelab ya it definitely seems a little dry. Idk the technical side of it but it almost seems like they could have just had a huge update for Boneworks considering they seem to be on the same engine, instead of asking $40 for what seems like an update.
I purchased Half Life Alyx as I figured it was time and the Workshop mods seem to be a lot of fun.
That still does not hide my sadness that this game should have at least some form of progression, as BW was so incredibly fun to just get new guns and get in gun fights that felt intense in hand crafted levels. Even if they just added a Rogue like mode like in B&S I would be so happy. I pray the modders work their modding magic.

I hope so too man. Crystal Hunt has been an absolute blast for me to play. I havent touched sandbox because I genuinly want to try all the new content as I play through. I think the best route at this point for vr gunplay is a multiplayer title. Cant quite John Wick it like you can in B&S or BW but you get most of the nice gun mechanics and reloads. Maybe wait a year or two when SLZ teases their ANOHER new game lol.
