VR games and obnoxious gun handling.
I just want to throw this out there, just because VR games are "immersive" doesn't mean we need 15 jitsu moves to reload a gun, its a bit over the top how VR games got you pulling out magazines, trying to grab one from a belt but you grab everything else accidentally, then you try to put it in, then it wont fire because you have to ♥♥♥♥ it back or pull a lever or input a 15 digit password but instead of doing that you accidentally grab the gun instead of the reloading mechanism then you drop the gun, then you try to pick it up but you reached down and your arm clipped into your body and you picked up a grenade instead so you try to put it back on your belt but it didn't work and fell on the ground, then you grab the gun and try to grab the grip but you grab the magazine instead and pull it out, meanwhile you're getting lit up by enemies and punched in the back of the head.

Listen, why can't it be as simple as pressing a button? You hold the gun, you press reload button which puts a magazine in your hand, you put the magazine into the gun and you can fire. You don't have to f***in disassemble and clean the gun then put it back together so you continue shooting your 5 round magazine.

also i love the gun cleaning and jamming mechanics in into the radius, maybe vr guns or guns in general just arent your type of thing man

My only problem with the gun handling here is that two handing feels too loose and typically the off hand will assume some weird position.
Though I do like having the option of using the gun as a bludgeon.
My problem with the guns is that there's not much to use them on besides boring hologram dudes. Why can't the more interesting physics based NPCs use guns and other weapons?

alyx does a lot of things wrong compared to bonelab/works when it comes to physics and whatnot, but the guns in bonelab/works are great, plus they have dumbass mode built in. it's not hard to just play around with the items to figure it out. i dont get why having a RELATIVELY realistic gun in a game is a problem. it's not even 100% accurate.
Gun handling is half the fun of vr shooters. Being able to actually chamber a round or physically pump a pump action shotgun is badass. I know the bone games can be a little wonky with it, but it's satisfying when you get used to it. Maybe guns aren't your thing. Nothing wrong with that.

I solved the whole gun loading issue in Boneworks, I downloaded a duel hand mod, designed for those who like to wander around with 2 uzi's, it allows you to reload just by bringing the guns to your clip pouch. very neat an very handy, an really improves the gun play.
