Ways the game can be fixed
Let me start by saying that I loved the original Boneworks and I really want to love this game too. I'm not hating just to hate. This has a lot of potential and I believe it can be made great. With that said, the game in its current state is borderline unplayable, and not at all worth 40 dollars. Here are my main ideas for ways the game can be worth that 40 dollars. I'd love to hear other ideas too.

1. Unlock the modding. This game was advertised as being a fully modded experience. Currently the SDK is hidden on Github and the ingame mod menu does not function. This is ridiculous.

2. Add enemy variety. The enemy variety promised by the devs was overpromised. All they added were variants and retextures of existing enemies that have been around since Boneworks.

3. Improve the PC graphics/physics and optimize the game on PC. Plenty of people are reporting in the Steam forums that they can't run the game past medium settings at a reasonable framerate. The graphics of this game are worse in some areas than Boneworks. This is clearly due to prioritizing Quest users. While I like that the game is available to a larger audience, this should not mean sacrificing the core audience that are the reason Stress Level Zero could ever exist.

4. Say something about patches or hotfixes. There have been no Steam news or update announcements regarding the well known softlocks or game breaking bugs. The build info ingame still says September 29th. It's been 5 days since launch, there should really be some patching done by now.

5. Commit to redoing the campaign. This is the most extreme but it is necessary. Starting with the crane, then level 11 (Pillar Climb) and then level 9 (Moon Base) the campaign needs to be gradually redone. The Boneworks campaign was amazing, but this campaign is just painful. There is no discernible story or continuity past level 5 and many of the levels are just awful.

Meant it's discretely on Github and you have to find it rather than it being readily available in the game files

They just need to add a proper campaign, for free, and release the mod tools.
There is a solid foundation, they just forgot to make a game (and when they tried, it sucked). Would be forgivable if at least robust mod tools were out with the game, then the "GMOD in VR" cope would be understandable, but not even that.

Quarter to half released at best. You get avatars, static meshes, and basic sandbox levels. And you have to hunt down the SDK instead of it being easily available like every other modding SDK.

Completely agree

My main beef with the game is the shooting. It was near perfect in Boneworks, but is janky as hell here. The pistols aim left of center on the controller, and long rifles aim up, meaning you have to move them down to be accurate. These things make quick, accurate shooting impossible. Not to mention it just feels bad. I'm with you Phalanx, I want to love this game so much, Boneworks is my favorite VR game, but this was just botched. Makes me so sad.

i agree with you 100%. they should make the in game modding experience a lot better, by making it so you can post a mod that will show up in-game for everyone who plays this. but i think they are still working on it and are deciding on how to sort and cut out some of the mods so its not just a flaming mess.

I just gotta say, this game has atrocious controls. I feel like I'm playing hand simulator, I'm either walking at a snails pace or instantly sprinting at full speed diagonally for no reason. I grab everything I don't want to grab, can't grab what I'm trying to grab, get stuck on all geometry including myself, drop things I try to put in my inventory, stick to enemies I'm trying to fight, I cant climb up on a damn thing with the awful vaulting, can never jump at the right time...Its becoming really enraging.

But get good I guess.

That was my experience with BW. Was really hoping to see some fully improved and polished physics in BL. Nope, felt even worse.

The biggest disappointment really was the campaign. I've not wanted to say it.. but it's straight up bad. The first game's was a lot better, scarier, felt sort of like a survival game.

Not only that, as soon as you get the ability to transform, WHAM, the campaign's practically over. And it's left on a cliff hanger with absolutely nothing accomplished. Like literally, what was the point of this campaign? Little to 0% progress was made to the events of Bonework's world. It was a huge nothing burger. It wasn't as mysterious either. It's a real shame.

Absolutely. The campaign is what I was most excited for but it was just awful playing through it and getting softlocked twice and having zero fun.

People are trying to "Game Theory" the ♥♥♥♥ out of it but there's like... nothing there. They said if you want to know the lore you read the clipboards. I already read the first 10 and learned nothing about the world, I ain't picking up another.
