Pretty sure they lack the number of buttons required by the game.
Here are some tips if you want to get through the game with them though:
-If you wanna jump consistently, flick your thumb from the top to the bottom of the trackpad and release, use this same method for crouching.
-To get on the mining cart, simply press the bottom of the trackpad ONCE.
-To get on the go-kart and drive it, hop onto it, press and hold the bottom of the trackpad and then move your thumb to the top to accelerate, you can control your speed this way too, but you can't let go of it and if you then drive backwards, your character will stand up and you will have to sit again.
It'll just have to be this way until someone finds a better way to re-bind the controls, either through Steam or Modding, remember that you can rebind the SteamVR button on the Wands to anything you like without opening the overlay, you can also bind it to double press and hold for extra functionality, so yeah, the Wands DO have all of the inputs a more modern controller has, you just need to do all of these workarounds.
The game pretty much works like boneworks they just dropped support because they think "there's no enough player base using the vive" on pcvr which is untrue.
While the vive wands are being old they are still very solid and, it might be mindblowing for you to know it's still the most compatible vr controller on steamvr which makes sense with it being there since the start of steamvr itself.
If some of you are still not understanding people willing the dev to work on the binding of the vive wand is because some of us can't get our hands on the valve index, the true of the matter is devs won't care that much about what they decide to be a minority of the enthusiast on pc which in my opinion sucks and show a different face of the team.
maybe this helps? since i have refunded this i cant tell you.
BTW since Vive is more of a premium Vr setup i think we do have the privilege to nag about the lack of support for this.
They currently work fine, he just wants them to be actually supported by the devs because they do have some hiccups
Could the Vive wands be fully compatible with Bonelab? : YES
Could it be comfortable? : Not Really
Is it really a technical problem for the devs : NO
The devs just dropped support because it's only 10% with a margin error of 3 (counting people like me never doing surveys) which makes 6-7% with Vive wands :
TRUE, they think Vive wands users aren't worth the headache (again the valve knuckles are not accessible everywhere in the world which makes people not being able to buy the game.)
Is it really the only Steamvr title with no wand support : Absolutely
Are the Vive wands still in production : Yes sold separately still everywhere (see my point? The new best VR headset consumer-wise is the Vive pro 2 it's selling with Vive wands this headset is just 1 year old)
Do I think it's unfair : YES
I had the chance to try out bonelabs and the controls are just remapped, they could just bind the controls for the wands but they did not just because they think the controls are now unacceptable for bonelabs like it's totally not the same game, but to be honest it's the brother of boneworks
Lot of us got a blast with what we've got from boneworks, they just want to please the majority that's what I feel they are going forward for.
I know developers look at my comments, so read this, you lose a good margin of income just because of a pride decision, which really left me disappointed.
And the virtual crouching thing is dumb too. Boneworks came out years ago and allowed crouching through headset verticality. I get that Quest was the main focus of development, but this is still a game primarily made by the same team on the same engine. It can't be that hard to pretend to be inclusive and say they'll fix PCVR within a few months, rather than admitting that they only develop for whoever will make the most money.
