I've tried everything, been everywhere since yesterday's release and still no luck. Changed the OpenXR setting many times, decided to stick on Oculus one. Here is what I've noticed so far:
- usually I link my Oculus via AirLink and proceed with SteamVR app and open a game from there, this causes Steam (not SteamVR) to crash
- sometimes SteamVR loses controller configuration and there is a slight chance that with swiftly starting steam again at exact point when it happens could trick the game that input is configured (configuration comes from Steam, SteamVR detects every controller like normal)
- starting the game from SteamVR, Steam itself, exe file, from Steam without SteamVR launched and from exe without SteamVR launched differs in behavior (sometimes steam dies immidietly, sometimes doesn't and XR crashes, and sometimes even memory write error appears)
- I've tried SteamVR beta, got back on normal, tried also file verification, game reinstalling and still no luck.
If there will be any news, I'll share at this topic.
And it was. Game during loading took >6GB of fresh RAM chips and closes apps if it needs more. In such case, all you need to do is to download some more RAM from the Internet... yhm... I meant extend your virtual memory. On Win10: File Exploler -> This PC -> Properties -> Advanced system conf -> Advanced tab -> Settings under Performance -> Advanced tab -> Change -> Pick a drive (and remove controlled by system from C... burgh) -> set as custom -> type in both THE SAME value (if you have SSD, if it's a HDD volume then you can go crazy and allow Windows to write/read as much as it wants). In my case (i5-7500k on MSI_B250i) my 3070 had 16GB in total chips and +5GB of virtual, but it was not enough. I've changed that to sum of 10,5 GB, and the game works. Now I'm at ultra settings and finally gathering my first Bones :) Also please mind to stick on Oculus OpenXR and check the developer sdk option on beta on oculus app.
I hope that it'll help you too. If so, please share this to others, so they could also play.
If I could share my first impressions: it's bonewor... bonela... just BONES for a great mod opportunity. THIS IS OUR GARRY MOD, and despite wide opinion of "disappointment" about release, I think this game changes a lot in VR.
Have fun, stay safe and bone some lab!
ACTUALLY TYYYYYY SO MUCH BRO LEGENDDD
