How do you switch avatars?

are you locked out of switching avatars during main story? i just got longarms and i still cant switch avatars on the fly, am i glitched or?

Having the same problem. You can switch somehow, by touch/pressing/idk the thing on your arm. It may or may not involve pressing a.

After you have activated it, it will randomly change you to one of your unlocked characters.

on your arm there should be a glowing ball, you grab that nad pull on it to a certain distance depending on what character you want to use

if you're in the lab with the key and you still dont have the glowing ball on your arm you are probably glitched in some way

You unlock the full functionality of the thing on your arm after that level iirc, then you can switch freely

i have the thing on my arm and i've seen videos on how to use it. i just dont have the glowing orange ball. but i am also mid story mode mission 11. maybe i have to finnish that first before i can switch?
