The avatars that don't match you feel awful
I think to no ones suprise since one of the critical pillars of VR is "body presence", but playing as these funky characters just feels like a bad VR game and it's not a shot at the devs, but playing one of those cheap or free, low effort VR games where the character isn't even scaled right and your controllers aren't in the right place and everything is off -- yeah, just screams cheap to me.

I think the new Avatar system is great when used for the purposes of making sure that every body type out there can play in a body that they relate too, but these other big (or small) ones in the campaign just feel awful. My controller is actually a foot away from the hand and that's supposed to feel good and satisfying to play? When the avatar is right, the game can feel good, but unless my second playthrough can be fully completed with my "body equivelent" playthrough i'm just gonna finish the campaign and never return to it.

Hand should be where controller is, end of story. No buts. My opinion

cant really say the same, works like a charm, the tall guys hands feel correct but i have noticed that heavy's are just outside and above my irl hands and reach out a little further too. which i cant tell if that's intentional or not but it works out for me since it does give you extra reach and if i start punching a guy on the ground I dont end up punching the floor and banging up my controllers.

If this problem is affecting all the avatars you play with though that could just be a problem with the settings, if you go into the body settings and do advanced you can manually adjust your wingspan and such which could maybe be the cause of it? It wouldn't hurt to check if your height is correct and also your shirt size which is an option but idk how that affects things.

did you atleast do the basics of setting your height and correct shirt size

you should know your height and your hands shouldn't be clipping into or floating above your chest when you move your hands to it

Yes I did all that and my body matches well with the default avatar that I picked that was closest to me. However, the further away the avatars get from my actual proportions, the worse it feels and the fun dies.

You may or may not have good proprioception, which is the ability to remember and visualize where objects are in space even with your eyes closed. Because I know where my hands are at all times it feels very bad when the virtual hands don't line up. And that's even before we start talking about the scale of the bodies.

You can test this by making two pointer fingers with your index finger and closing your eyes. If you can hold your hands out in front of you and then move both index fingers together and they touch, you've probably got good proprioception. VR kind of blinds you so if you can't see your hands, you might not be bothered if they're out of place

It does depend on the person I guess,

even trying to confuse myself and doing it quickly at odd angles I still manage to atleast get my fingers to scrape eachother.

I do know that the different models dont match the controllers the same way however as trying to reload the MK18 as the heavy my controller collide so I have to dance around that whenever, but it's not something that impacts me outside of that

thank you for your valuable and complete insight on the matter, and explaining so well what settings and changes we would hav to complete to be able to fix the avatar position
