The game feels exactly like Boneworks, and ya wanna know something? A lot of people gave similar reviews to Boneworks as well. Called it janky, rubbery, sickness inducing, people called the melee horrible. Tons of negative threads for that game too. Not sure why people think Boneworks was universally loved.
Boneworks also had issues on launch day. Relax.
Honestly it feels jankier, and aiming with guns feels a lot different.
It still feels like boneworks... but to say it feels exactly like it is a bit of a stretch. There's definitely been some downgrades for the sake of Quest support
I'm not defending the game here but it is pretty much the game I expected. I thought this was Boneworks with a new campaign, couple new guns, enemy types and the body change mechanic and it is that basically. I wasn't expecting a VR revolution like many said and it ain't. Just like I ain't expecting The Walking Dead Saints & Sinners Retribution to be much more than the 1st one. Bonelab runs fine for me on my Reverb G2 quite surprisingly since most of the time WMR headsets require a bit of fiddling to work properly on Steam / Oculus VR games. At least for the control bindings. But yeah I can understand that people are disappointed. I personally like it.
I'd call that just wanting a reason to hate on the Quest. Gunplay feels the same, it's solid just like Boneworks was. I played tons of Boneworks and I feel no difference between them.
I believe with the new rigging system there are more physical points of articulation that can interact with the environment (like your shoulders). This is because their rigging is ALMOST good enough to do this. It is by far the best rigging system I've seen when it comes to aligning perfectly with your body. It also introduced a ton of new problems with gunplay and climbing.
I do believe this game can be "saved" as in bugs fixed and things working as Janky as Boneworks. That's not what my hopes were for though, I wanted improvement. I feel grifted by the trailers whether intentional or not. I did find it odd the trailers showed very little video of 2 handed gun play (i saw a quick flash), was my main issue with the first.
As far as people saying it was downgraded for quest. I think there is some truth to that but only when it comes to level design. To me it feels like the same game with a new rigging system introduced that added a new set of jank bugs that are less enjoyable to deal with than the first.
Imagine paying $40 to a game studio only to rely on the community to fill out the content for free.
This is gross.
Air Link SteamVR.
Half-Life Alyx charged $60
What's more gross is an entire generation have no idea what it's like for a game to come out that works
I've explained the issues in detail
Half-Life Alyx not only worked day one (for Quest and Index users). It was an actual game with progression and story and WAY better physics, graphics, sound and game play. I'd rather have no melee then the balloon fights going on in this joke.
This is half ass DLC for a 3 year old game.
