That's not the same for Japanese.
And then they translated Lui Bu as Lu Bu. Also, they rarely use courtesy names where they should be used. Well, plenty of people call Cao Cao with courtesy name Mengde but for other, whose courtesy name is not widely known, they simple don't use them until DW9.
It sounds bad to me.
To me, Nobunaga Oda sounds as weird as how you feel about Bond James.
Even if it's not weird for people who got used to hearing Nobunaga Oda, doesn't mean it's not a problem to other people.
Beat nobanga story. Beat other guys story. Unlocked t4 all castle things. Did all citridal once.
Wont touch this game anymore. Pretty boring. Weapons useless if I can cannon kill all.
...but if you did, then:
Even going back to some of Japan's earliest recorded history, once clan name is actually a thing, first name being separate from it appears to be a thing. For example, "Soga no Iname" (born in the year 506) was the name of the head of the Soga clan, and the name is really literally translated as "Iname of Soga". You'll find on the Japanese Wikipedia article that he's actually referred to as just "Iname" throughout most of it, rather than "Soga no Iname" the entire time.
https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E8%98%87%E6%88%91%E7%A8%B2%E7%9B%AE
Also of note, is that even though names from this period have the "no" particle in them, indicating possession, it's not actually written. 蘇我 稲目 is just the kanji for "Soga" and "Iname" if you don't read it together, yet it's read as "そが の いなめ".
There is quite a good popular video about the matter

So, really, using "proper" names isn't a good thing because we will end up confused.
sorry bud, but senran kagura burst re:newal is from 2019
Koei 1997, releases DW 1 worldwide:
Hey Boss, should we translate naming conventions for one regoin?
Boss: Nah, ef it.
Koei 2004, releases SW 1 in NA a few months after JP release:
Hey Boss, should we translate naming conventions for one regoin?
Boss: Yah, ef it, they're idiots, we better hold their hand.
But seriously. there's prolly a number of factors that play into this. PS1 roms were always pressed for storage capacity. Multiple translations or voiceovers were not high on most priority lists.
With the PS2, we got DW 2 and SW 1. They had blu ray capacity then and could offer different rom packages to different regions.
Probably most importantly is is Omega Force themselves. In early 2000s, what translation of "Romance of the 3 Kingdoms" were north americans familiar with? The translated version at the time used typical "Liu Bei" type naming conventions. Other regions would already have their knowledge of the game from the translated book. In other words, the translation rules for Romance were already set.
On the other hand, Japanese historical texts were largely untranslated. The west was largely oblivious to anything coming out of Japan that didn't say "Sony" on the label. They wanted to appeal to the west by giving them similar naming conventions. It's just one small thing of many to try and garner as much support and recognition for a title as possible.
Total War Shogun is a western-made game and they did it properly, while Samurai Warriors and Nobunaga no Yabō are Japanese franchises but they don't want to do it for some reason.
Still, I'm really looking forward to seeing Ginchiyo reworked. I just hope we don't have to wait too long for "Part II".
If I had one complaint, it's that I found it slightly unnerving that Mitsuhide and Nobunaga were the only characters to age when both Hideyoshi and Ieyasu didn't. Ieyasu remaining a young boy throughout the entire campaign (a storyline that spanned from Okehazama (1560 until 1582).
Lol realistic, lol, throwing cannons at armies as a weapon, sure.
And a lvl 15 that can clear hardest difficulty l, equip a S rank weapon on first use of toon. Lol the dw9 rage, but ok now?
Best because 15 weapons. Best because you cant really fight without having to try spam reading during battle.
Best that almost all fights were run here, kill x, run here kill y. Very little plots, objectives.
Almost no replay value as besides main campaign no extra content. Actually out of all the sw, dw games this has the least content.
No this game is trash worse then the worse dw9 haters.
Clones, less toons also. Warriors all stars and berserk and Arslan would and do put this to shame. Same for fate excel.
Dw8, wo4 eat this for breakfast.
Hell you craft almost all weapons one of two ways, dont even need to craft. And can go all game getting t1 t2 weapons. So no this games hot a huge list of flaws.
Story is a good part. Focus on just two characters is also a good part.
Extra four skills that you can use on cooldown is a good addition. Now you can just activate special skills without doing a certain combo.
Battle flow feels great. I am going through all weapons and only bows are kinda lame because they work bad on uneven terrain. But being ranged still makes them very strong, it's just that you can't use them effectively everywhere you want, you have to position yourself correctly.
Visuals are great. Not polygonal models that simply become more realistic with each game, but actual beautiful art.
Crafting is bad in this game. It is too easy, you get a lot of gems from everywhere, so don't have to hunt for things. You get empty tier2 weapons with 4 or 8 slots by upgrading your weapon abilities. So you can craft whatever you want and everything that drops is just converted to gold. They didn't even let you lock the weapons, so every time you have to clear the storage you need to do it carefully so that you don't destroy weapons that you want to keep. Adding a lock option and adding an option to recycle everything that is not locked would have been useful.
Extra mode is boring in this game. The only thing you do is protect few gates and you barely have any resources to do it. Enemies go past your summons ignoring them, there is an extra enemy or two on the map specifically to distract you from defense, you get score not based on how well you defend but on how well you kill the enemies. It has a huge relationships grind attached to it where you are not required to do good battles, but just to do any battle with any result to progress.
Difficulty. I am not sure about it. I used extra restictions when I played my first story run - base t2 weapon with mastery 7 only (F rank), no leveling up using banked experience, no weapon ability improvement using banked weapon experience, normal difficulty. This felt quite balanced up to the end. Even new characters that you get at 9 star missions would feel just hard enough to play so that it is enjoyable but not frustrating. Currently making few good characters and weapons to play on nightmare difficulty.
Having a "cheat" with low hp musou bar recharge breaks all difficulty. Enemy gunners with stunlock are really annoying.
So yeah, there are good and bad things about this game. Story, Battle mechanics, Visuals are great. Crafting and Citadel mode are bad, Difficulty is fine if you use extra restrictions yourself as you see fit, to make the game enjoyable (not too easy and not frustrating).
I wouldn't say that Warriors Orochi was much better than this game (it was better, but still comparable). It also had its problems, like broken post game, where if you maxed one character the rest of the game becomes trivial as you don't have any reason to use other characters and can just carry them to level them up and get their OP weapons with this character.
And the third can be Onin war(no one cares about Onin War) Uesugi vs Takeda if they want a theme with such oblivious rivalities going on.
