Hello Mate sorry for the late reply. I was able to find a fix for this and it took me awhile as developers pretty much gave up on helping me haha. What fixed the issue for me was;
Uninstalling everything to do with Forgive me father from the computer so uninstall the UE4 pre-requisites and the game itself.
Next go find the %appdata% folder go into local and delete the folder titled ‘FMF’
Next re install the game onto a different directive so instead of Xprogramfiles86/steam I installed it onto a new folder called SteamLibrary (when you install via steam it comes up with a drop down box asking where the files should be downloaded, the file SteamLibrary should already be present)
Next wait for the installation to finished before re installing UE4 pre requisites.
Finally find FMF.exe in the local files of the game and run as an admin. I hope this helps! If not let me know and I’ll gladly try my best to help you with the issue!
I only hope the devs read this ... Most devs hang out on Discord now, and are hard to reach on the platform where we bought the game.
Seems to have fixed the issue. Thank you very much for the detailed explanation.
I was able to try it 10 minutes back in this time, worked fine, I was thrilled, before putting it aside for some weeks (too busy to play)... and then never being able to play it again.
This error occures 100% of the time when it try to load any level, start any new game, etc...
I worked with several persons from Fulqrum (Dominik and Lucas) to try several dev builds, on GoG and Steam (they gave me a secundary key to try), never found any clue about the issue. (no overlay, no antivirus, no directx, no video drivers issue, no beta/dev/debug/test branch builds worked until now...).
For months now I have no more communication from my contacts... I'm let in the dark, on my own...

One tip I quickly found at the beginning of my investigations : every time you got the "fatal error" mini window, you can press shift+win+S and drag a box around this little window, you'll copy the entire error log (kind of "hidden" behind this error window) and then paste it in any text sheet.
here is one of my numerous attempts error log :
"Fatal error!

And since : Forgive Me Father 1 still doesn't work, but Forgive Me Father 2 works just fine. (and I remain frustrated to not being able to play and finish the 1st before playing the 2nd)
And now the irony : I got the exact same issue with Ghostrunner 2, and Ghostrunner 1 works just fine. (same frustration, just reversed)
