I was able to try it 10 minutes back in this time, worked fine, I was thrilled, before putting it aside for some weeks (too busy to play)... and then never being able to play it again.
This error occures 100% of the time when it try to load any level, start any new game, etc...
I worked with several persons from Fulqrum (Dominik and Lucas) to try several dev builds, on GoG and Steam (they gave me a secundary key to try), never found any clue about the issue. (no overlay, no antivirus, no directx, no video drivers issue, no beta/dev/debug/test branch builds worked until now...).
For months now I have no more communication from my contacts... I'm let in the dark, on my own...

One tip I quickly found at the beginning of my investigations : every time you got the "fatal error" mini window, you can press shift+win+S and drag a box around this little window, you'll copy the entire error log (kind of "hidden" behind this error window) and then paste it in any text sheet.
here is one of my numerous attempts error log :
"Fatal error!

And since : Forgive Me Father 1 still doesn't work, but Forgive Me Father 2 works just fine. (and I remain frustrated to not being able to play and finish the 1st before playing the 2nd)
And now the irony : I got the exact same issue with Ghostrunner 2, and Ghostrunner 1 works just fine. (same frustration, just reversed)
The "0x00007ff" lines represent read / write errors occurring with your RAM. This could happen for a number of reasons such as corrupt files, old drivers, malware or viruses, dying RAM or unstable overclocks.
Assuming it's not malware, a virus and your drivers are up to date, are you overclocking or boosting your RAM modules? If so, try reverting it to the default speed via the BIOS and see what happens.
I have a Gigabyte motherboard and it never ran my RAM at its advertised speed, so I used to boost it with the XMP profile to bring it closer to what it was supposed to be. However, this occasionally caused fatal errors with random programs for me and eventually even caused one of my RAM sticks to fail.
Those boosts generally mess with your RAM timings, which can cause a lot of issues, so it's not really recommended unless you know exactly what you're doing and are absolutely positive it's stable. If it's not stable, it can cause some games to crash immediately (or shortly after launch) because it's not writing things like it should. In some cases, even if a game is playable and seems fine, it doesn't necessarily mean it is. It could be throwing a bunch of errors and can lead to scripts breaking or other weird in-game behavior, which you wouldn't even know unless you can access the developer's console or are checking error logs.
My computer is in a vanilla state, I never OC, never used any kind of ram boost or anything. (and I'm building my own computers and manages them for 30 years, I'm starting to know 2 or 3 tricks, even if I'm not a coder)
These errors are not linked with any obscure issue with my computer... I'm sure it's more about some incompatibility between ultra specific Win or some tier software configuration, and these 2 games, peculiarly UE engine.
Have you tried deleting the Binaries folders and verifying the integrity of game files? I'm guessing you have but if not...
1) Go to the Forgive Me Father folder in your program files. You should be able to locate it here:
This PC > C: Drive > Program Files (x86) > Steam > Steamapps > Common > Forgive Me Father.
2) In the Engine folder, right click and delete the entire Binaries folder.
3) In the FMF folder, right click and delete the entire Binaries folder.
4) Then, in Steam itself, right click on Forgive Me Father from your game list and select properties.
5) Select "Installed Files" and click on "Verify integrity of game files."
6) Steam should proceed to download the correct Win64-Shipping binaries. Once it has, check to see if the game launches.
Based on everything you described, I'm not holding my breath but it's worth a shot.
If you have a motherboard from ASUS, then most likely you have ARMOURY CRATE installed - delete it completely. It took me whole week to find culprit.
This helped me run this game and also Ghostrunner 2
Hope this helps!
And I don't have Asus MB, so no tiers party software like armoury crate.
(I boycott Asus after 2 P5B Deluxe non OC ♥♥♥♥♥♥ by themselves a long time ago)
