Any difference between the journalist and the priest?

I know the game says ones defensive and the others offensive, but is there any notable difference between them?

I haven't started playing the game yet, but for the first level at least, the two characters are identical. The differences are only in the special skills section. The regular mechanics, guns, ammo, experience, and light source are the same in both trees.
