Declining 2K's new terms of service coming on March 28, 2025 to this game
Since this is occurring after we have paid for the software, I would expect a full refund to be available for the original price we paid, including any DLC prices paid should we decline to accept the new terms of service, and we are then locked out of the software. I assume there is a process with Steam where we can request a refund under these conditions?

I would assume we accept and keep playing or decline and get shut out. I don't know if you ever bothered to read The EULA and Terms of service but they always have there selves covered. IMHO
On that note, interesting how they give the previous generation game away for free. For those just buying the new release, it must be nice. Perhaps for course designers who want to import courses? Kinda strange though. Like, here are two versions of the game, play the one you like the most!

You never bought the game. You bought a license to use it.

While you are well within your rights to expect a full refund...you wont get it.

Rando,

I'll entertain your use of semantics here. Let's assume for the moment that your assertion is legally accurate; "A license to use it". How is it even remotely okay to add new conditions to software already paid for that locks someone out of accessing the software if they disagree with new conditions? This is called theft. It is not okay just because the developer is doing it to the customer under the guise of "legalese" semantics that doesn't withstand ethical scrutiny.

2k has become a garbage entity. The new terms of service posted since February 28, 2025 are being rolled out retroactively to every game (as far as I know from their own posting on their web site). Every 2K franchise is potentially being impacted, and it seems to be about limiting class action responses. I wonder why? Shutting down servers in a year to facilitate selling another version of something. The list goes on, and I'm sure anyone who has gamed, and supported 2K in the past is aware of shady, and disgusting business practices like the single example I mentioned here.

As far as PGA tour 2023, we'll see how far it goes when its rolled out shortly. If I can still play after declining new terms, great. I'm expecting an online services lockout, which I could deal with since I play only single player. But if it is a total lockout to the game, absolutely not.

I think they have this covered in the ToS...

Keep in mind that TOS are not laws and can be void in certan circumstances, something like "If you do not accept our new TOS changes later on you will neep to pay us 100$ to continue playing the game" will not hold any merit in a court of law
Forced TOS changes you have to accept under the threat to lose your license to use the product most certainly falls under unfair practices in Europe and very likely illegal. Not so sure in the US though

I'm not claiming it's a law, just mentioning that they had something to cover the situation in there.

Q: When are the servers going to be shut down?

It isnt semantics. Its a clear and concise agreement, that you opted into to play the game. If you dont accept the terms of the new TOS, they have every right to deny you access to the game. Im not saying its fair, im not saying you should like it. What I am saying is it is what it is, and you can either stay mad that a golf game is no longer supported almost 5 years after its release (in 2027), buy the new one, or move on my guy.
sof Mar 24 @ 8:28pm
That mentality is everything that is wrong with PC-gaming. Theft is not okay, and it demands appropriate responses. Personally, I will not be giving 2K another cent. I'm done supporting them in any capacity.

Don't contradict your own trolling with "buy the new one". You don't "buy" anything, right? If you did then how can something deny you access to anything that you have "bought" after the purchase is concluded, and money has changed hands.

There's an FAQ on the ToS change you can refer to.
