My biggest complaint with 23 and 21 is the completely useless practice system.

The whole system feels like a sucker punch game

game is just telling you that if you have to take 4 practice swings then you should have hit the ball on at least 2...go to 3 click, many have and are playing much better without swing timing issues.

First, let's dismiss the game gimmicks. If you played 2K21 then you would know that Replays and Commentaries are needless distractions. It only takes a few rounds to see the truth of it. There are a limited number of licensed players and a limited number of preset animations to fir any of them into. Similarly, there is a limited number of comments and the AI has to grab whatever it thinks is right. After a few rounds, you've seen/heard them all countless times. Answer. Switch them off. Does that stop you playing the game? No.

As for the animations of celebrity players motions and faces? What does it matter? Does it stop you playing golf? No. The odd names/scores on the course leaderboards. I answered that one elsewhere. It's not the game, rather the ability for users to manipulate scores to try and get to the top. Agreed, there is a server issue displaying names but what difference if it shows Community Member or a nickname? Seasoned players from 2K21 know those course records are a gimmick and not in anyway representative.

You use the word 'sometimes' and 'tends' a few times in your comments. Thus, it isn't everybody, some of us are playing along quite happily. For those who are having issues, do we know the specs of their machine etc? There was one complaint way back where the user's graphics card shows on a benchmark site as 'not for gaming'. That is not the game of dev's fault.

It is true that some parts of the UI are not immediately intuitive but some kind people here in the forum have been very helpful is answering my posts on what might seem obvious issues.

IMHO, 2K23 tries to be too many things. Maybe it would be better sold cheaper as a career/casual golf simulation with optional earn VC or a sandbox no money limits mode. The online match modes and course designer would be optional DLC.

Totally agree about the game being expensive but therein lies the answer. If I have the slightest doubt about an expensive games i don't impulse buy, I do research. I wait for what the forums say and visit streaming sites to see the game in action. You need to visit more than one so you can separate the fanboys from the honest critical reviews. I've saved so much money like that, seeing games being played that were not what I had imagined.

This kind of drivel is the reason so many games are released half baked these days, we went from finished games to day one patch, now its months later and games are still broken and unfinished, this one being a good example. Who are you to tell people to turn off things that do not work, they damn well should work, we have paid for them to work...dont you get that?? your acceptance of mediocrity is just nauseating.

No new game will ever release without some patches...not going to happen and the fact that 2k moved to a much more realistic golf sim than an arcade golf game like 21 is kudos to them.

I am new to the series. I have not really played other golf sims, just tested. But I think it is quite fun. I am playing it because they have the three click system. I never could grasp the stick system, so that is why I have not played until now.

I am a multiplayer player. I look forward to reaching 40-45 and getting fittings so i can compete. As a multiplayer player I see big problems with the game now (like the leaderboards) but I will wait until crossplay and ranked is introduced, I think much will change then.

I dont play golf IRL, so I cant tell if it is simulating golf in a good way. But I actually like the game. There are few bugs compared to other released games i have played. Som desync in what people say, some balls that cant be seen, but gameplay functions despite the bugs.

I would say that the next updates are crucial for the game.

As an ex 2K NBA guy, I am jealous. What do we have to do to earn such a release?

PGA Tour 2k21 is rated at about 85%. The game was also very shallow and with poor value for the sold price but the gameplay was solid and a great improvement from The Golf Club 2019, minus the awful amount of crashes and softlocks in multiplayer though.
The reason why 2k23 is a lot more hated is due to the fact the game is very much a copy paste of 2k21, with a lot more focus towards microtransactions. Some people also do not like the more arcade direction the game took. Even with a 65% rating, it still fares a lot better compared to 2k's other sports where MTX are 10 times worse, for now. Golf's rapidly going towards that direction too and will only get worse from here

that's funny...its hated due to most not having a clue how to play an rpg, spoiled with arcade buy clubs 21 for a game...this is so much better and havent had to buy anything to use whatever i wanted due to just playing...this series is finally heading in the right direction and will only get better and those that want to just buy a better club can go back to 21

Support from Steam and EA Sports is a joke

Downloaded game and had nothing but problems. No refund from Steam after two weeks and they direct you to EA Sports. EA Sports has no fix so I have spent $70.00 on a worthless game that doesn't work. Won't purchase from Steam ever again. You can't sell me a product and then push me off elsewhere. All I want is a new download and I can't get either Steam or EA Sports to give me that. Steer clear of both these companies.

I got a refund. I'm too used to the swing mechanics of 2K1. There's also something about the graphics because in some ways at times the scenery looks blurry even with the graphics set to ultra. But the swing mechanics did it for me where every time I pulled the ball to the left. I don't have that problem with 2K1.

I will revisit this after a few more patches and when it hits $20.
