Character and fittings not synced across devices
This thread is relevant to those of us who play on multiple PCs or devices (Steam Deck in my case)

This game does not use Steam Cloud, and 2K does not save your MyPlayer customization server-side. Why is this bad? Well, the character appearance part isn't such a big deal. You just have to spend a little time changing your appearance on each device. However, what IS bad, is that fittings also aren't saved. These cost VC to apply - meaning you'll have to spend double VC to play the same character on two devices. This needs to be changed.

Career, pro shop purchases, and skills sync correctly. Why not player customization?

I can get to my directory but cannot figure out HOW to do the rest, my excuse is I'm old as the surrounding hills, and I wonder why the game doesn't 'back up itself' so no one has to live through this BS losing all your fittings and investments anymore (rant off), thanks for all help, I'm hoping someone will post a video to youtube on how to to fix this for the elderly.

Sorry for the delayed reply Dash... I completely understand. it really should be backed up to the cloud as a lot of modern games today are. Unfortunately and fortunately 2K has the save split into two parts. VC and earned fittings as well as battle pass unlocks and such are saved to your account via the cloud. So, you should in theory never lose those. Character customization, career progress, club fittings are all saved locally only.

Here are the instructions on how to restore the file pending that you are running File history or cloud storage services. I hope it helps... But, you can try to contact 2K support to be reimbursed for the lost VC. They will, however, be unable to restore the data that is only saved locally to your machine.

----------------------

The save file that matters the most is located at: C:/Users/YourUserName/Documents/My Games/PGA Tour 2K23/Common

The file should be called "Profiles###############.data".

If you are already using File History, you should just have to Right click on the file and select "Restore Previous Versions". Then, just choose a version from a time before the issues occurred. If you are using Google drive, Dropbox, etc, you may have to do the restore from the web interface. Basically, right click on the Profile.data file and say show on web... That will bring up the interface for both Google drive or Dropbox I believe.

You can also manually copy the profiles.data file into another folder to manually back it up. To restore that one, you just overwrite the file with your backed up file.

You may want to get into the habit of doing this each time you play the game if you are not using File history or cloud storage. Each time you change a fitting on your player, win a career match, etc. the save is updated. So, if you restore one from a week ago... all of your progress from that week in Career mode will be lost as well as any customization made to your player or clubs. Fittings earned/traded for and cosmetic unlocks will remain, though would need to be reequipped.

Dash, are you on PC or a console? Sadly this happened to me where it said the save file was corrupted and when I got things running again the fittings were not on my clubs. They were in the player file but not applied. I had to respend VC to make it work. 2K support was no help and I tried everything on the internet I could find but nothing worked. So the short answer if I think we are out of luck. I am getting a network error when I try to do my career now and that had been going on since last night. I can do other online things in the game so seems unlikely that it is anything on my network. So right now I cannot even play at all, with or without fittings in the career mode I was enjoying so much.

cheers B3K, worked for me :)
Where the hell are cloud saves?
How can a game in 2023 not have cloud saves. If I play on my pc then want to play on my steam deck my myplayer is non-existent. Do better 2K!
It does partly use cloud saving, but none of your clubs, fittings etc. are saved....
Fittings not transferred
I got a new computer and loaded up the game to realise that all of my fittings have been unequipped but the money that i had to spend to equip them didn't come back is this a bug or do I actually have to equip everything again?
Data Transfer from 1 pc to another
Is there anyway to sync pc and laptop so you can play same character on both? I am using same steam account?
I play on my tower and on my laptop.
I was on my lappy playing mp with a friend and noticed I was hitting a lot shorter.

My archetype was different and the clubs had no fittings.
It cost me over 3 grand to sort out my clubs, lol....
2k23 PGA club fittings never transfer over to my second PC !!
My Desktop PC has all 14 clubs fitted. The break down was 14 clubs with 39 orange 2 purple and 1 green. Which cost me a total of €6,190 VC. When I went to use my Laptop I noticed none of my clubs were fitted everything else transferred over except the fittings that i had added to my clubs on my desktop. So in order for me to add the same fittings to my Laptop PC it's going to cost me another €6,190 VC. Now that is insane !!:steamfacepalm:

Yep, it's been a problem since the 2019 version and has never been sorted....
You should try to transfer your profil data file to your laptop
there 2 locations files to transfer

C:\Users\Jurb\Documents\My Games\PGA TOUR 2K23
C:\Users\Jurb\AppData\LocalLow\2K
Steam Cloud
My stuff gets reset when I switch between Steamdeck and PC, any solutions?
I think people here are missing the point.
The workaround should not be necessary even if the devs do split the data between a local and cloud save....it should still work correctly.

Having to do this just shows that the devs ain't interested.....in fact a cynic might argue that it could work in their favour as some players may spend real cash to replenish their coins to rebuy their fittings.

Inexcusable....
I am sorry but I am not turning on file history for many reasons, the hassle and pain I get because of this idiot like infrastructure set up is considerable given I have well over 12 clubs configured perfectly. I have never played this game on any other device also ONLY my desktop gaming PC, @Steam support time to rattle 2Ks cage here and also enforce steam cloud backups and config saves by default. I now need to start from scratch to get my clubs back into working order, and also reconfigure all of previous settings from memory - this is quite simply not good enough and I hope you agree
