Half Life 2: Update does not support Entropy Zero 2
My friend wants to play Entropy Zero 2, and he bought Half Life on it's 20th anniversary, when they updated the game and merged all episodes into one. Now he can't get the game, since it says that he needs to own Half Life 2, when he owns Half Life 2: Update. Any way to go around it?

It's the difference in how Valve set up the Steam implementation I believe.

Half-Life 2: Update is classified as a Mod for Half-Life 2, which I guess is compatible with library sharing, whereas Entropy : Zero 2 is classified as a free game with the requirement of owning Half-Life 2 in your library.

It's not something we can change on our end.

Half-Life 2: Update is a community made mod. That also requires Half-Life 2 to run, so I'm confused as to why your friend can't play EZ2.

Just to confirm, in his library if he searches "Half-Life 2" is it there?

I am sharing my library with him. I have Half Life 2 in the library, and he has access to it. That's probably how he can play Half Life: Update. However, when he tries to get EZ2, it doesn't allow him for some reason.

It does not work with sharing, he needs to own Half-Life 2 himself.

boi i got 20th anniversary edition and later got ez2 and it worked perfectly

He didn't buy Half Life 2. That's why EZ2 doesn't work. But Half Life: Update works for some reason because of the shared library, as well as Episode 1 and 2. Strange. Guess I'll have to buy it to him at the winter sale just so he can play Entropy Zero 2

Did you buy it yet for him? If not, I can pay that back-breaking 2 euro.
