so i found when i first tried playing the game i got an error about dx12 and try running without -dx12 or -d3d12. The common solutions from a google search were not helpful but i did find one on youtube that allowed me to open the game (havent tested if it will crash though).
Step 1: go to high on life in steam
Step 2: right click and select browse local game files
Step 3: right click the High on life.exe and select Send to Desktop (Create shortcut)
Step 4: Click on the target line and go to the end. (should be next to .exe of the target line
Step 5: type in -dx11
Example: high on life path line text.exe -dx11
This allowed me to launch the game. ill try to post this to other discussions for this problem and post it on reddit.
If you want to find the video just search
How to solve DX12 is not supported on your system in youtube. the creator is Ammar.
Please spread this around if it worked for you as im sure this will come up for more than just us on steam.
I doubt switching the graphics api's is going to help much for that,
I'm going to gamble on having a corrupted install somehow and nuke and re-download it to see if that helps.
Is anyone having this on the steam version or is this just a game pass thing?
Very frustrating experience -_-
Let us know if it works, cause verify integrity should catch stuff like that, but that only works if the steam side cache of verified integrity is correct.
I'm using game pass. I'm not convinced the xbox app's verify function actually works, it completes in a second or so.
BIOS update is a solution
