Force game to run in DirectX11?

Is there a way to force the game to run in Dx11 or is Dx12 hardcoded into the game?

In Unreal Engine games, I think you can use "-d3d11" to launch the game in DirectX 11 mode. This is going to change with Unreal Engine 5 games that opt towards Shader Model 6 exclusively, but this should still apply as the default for now.

There's also "-dx11" that you can put in the steam launch options.

We tried this over at a friends house and neither the -dx11 nor the -force-d3d11 switch work. Wonder if there is something to add in the GameUserSettings.ini like PreferredGraphicsAPI=DX11 but that doesn't seem to work either. Game might run much smoother in DirectX 11

I am following this thread ... my PC can't run DirectX 12, only DX 11 ... so I really need to know if my PC can run this game after I bought it ...

The game tells me I have to try and start the game with "-dx12 or -d3d12" but how do I do that?

so i found when i first tried playing the game i got an error about dx12 and try running without -dx12 or -d3d12. The common solutions from a google search were not helpful but i did find one on youtube that allowed me to open the game (havent tested if it will crash though).

Step 1: go to high on life in steam
Step 2: right click and select browse local game files
Step 3: right click the High on life.exe and select Send to Desktop (Create shortcut)
Step 4: Click on the target line and go to the end. (should be next to .exe of the target line
Step 5: type in -dx11
Example: high on life path line text.exe -dx11

This allowed me to launch the game. ill try to post this to other discussions for this problem and post it on reddit.
