Need help progressing in Sigma 1 Chapter 12

SPOILERS, I guess?

In the Aquaducts, I appear to be stuck. All doors are locked and every treasure chest that I can find has been searched. I checked GameFAQs and apparently the chest in the Red Reservoir Room has the Key of the insect that I need. However, it gave me a health item instead. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there another way around, or am I screwed?

I think it was in NG Black where it was in the Red Reservoir room, in Sigma it's in the Hall of Balance above the Muramasa statue.
