Xbox Game pass have no Ninja Gaiden 2 since this February. So that's not good news. Not immediately at least.
In a nutshell: "We dont want to pay any royalties to Tomonobu Itagaki".
This is a multiplatform release, appearing on Sony and Nintendo platforms alongside Xbox and PC. So there might be some other important issues in play with getting originals to non-MS platforms, unrelated to source code being (or not being) lost.
Hayashi considers them hardcore gamer's games, and not very accessible. Furthermore, I see three reasons behind the incredibly convenient: "Sorry, we are unable to salvage the code." when talking about these games directed by Itagaki:
1) KT refuses to pay additional royalties to Tomonobu.
2) KT doesn't want to beg, collab with, and/or pay MS to get the code. These games run like a dream on the XBone X. NG2's staircase gauntlet runs like how it was always supposed to!
3) Do we really think OG NG2 will run decently on the Switch? Sigma 2, with its significant enemy count nerfs, purple mist in lieu of blood, and little to no dismembered limbs on the screen is better suited to run on it.
All we can hope for is uncut patch for NG2 since there is an uncut patch even for the PS Vita version of NGS.
what's your setup, btw?
Do you have proof that they "invented" it?
What's with all the conspiracy theorists on these boards?
