I enjoyed this otome — the gameplay was quite unique (and funny too). The story changes every play-through, with the third (and last) play-through revealing the entire truth. After you finish the third play-through, the game will loop back to the first play-through if you'd like to replay it.

Without saying too much, I recommend doing Justin's route before Kyle's when you see the subtle choices. There is a semi-fixed ending order so it shouldn't matter too much in the end.

Overall, this was a very fun game, especially for the price. The CGs are super beautiful as well!

I really can't say much about Billionaire Lovers without ruining what makes it so great, but what I CAN say is that it's entirely worth the 3 buck asking price. Not only is the translation top notch for a Chinese Otome VN, but the character sprites and CGs are also fantastic. Toss in some Steam Achievements, and you've got quite the little treat. Just know that to get the full story, you need to play through a handful of times for the True Ending.🌻

I won't lie: I picked this up because of the price. I won't lie again: I wasn't happy with it the first playthrough. The MC is a completely stereotypical blonde bimbo who doesn't know anything, who gets flustered every time a pretty boy says a single word to her, and is completely irresponsible with her safety, her finances, and her own person. She never thinks things through, is completely frivolous, and quite frankly I doubt that she actually has a college degree because she is an A-grade idiot. It wasn't until I thought today that "eh, I'll give it another go since I'm always bad at these games" and started the second playthrough that I realised: that was the point.

The author has a purpose for this game, and I believe that is to teach people about scams. What they are, what they do, who the people who run them are and what they're like, and the tricks they use to catch you. It is not by any means a comprehensive list - such a scope is too large for a visual novel and definitely not something I think most of the VN audience would even want to read - but the more I think about it, the more I think that what they did wasn't bad. It might be good, in fact. It is definitely important.

This visual novel has a theme of trust, and how it is abused. There's a streamer who sells scam products that actively harm people, a fraudulent developer of gambling games, a business man and hacker responsible for hostile takeovers and stealing your personal information to gain access to your personal bank account, and a billionaire running decades-long ponsi schemes. These people LOVE people like the MC - naive, irresponsible, and quite frankly stupid. But through the three playthroughs, the MC learns to pay attention to things like suspicious Privacy Statements, sketchy streamer promotions, and deals that sound far good to be true and definitely are, and eventually learns how to protect themselves from these people. The true end also allows the MC to retain their ability to trust people who have earnt it, instead of becoming the same type of person as the antagonists.

The game is hard to get into during that first playthrough. And it isn't a romance game. The title at first glance definitely suggests that, but like the antagonists in the game, if you blindly trust, you will be disappointed. That said, it is definitely a game I would recommend playing, and then sitting down and thinking about. Think about the themes, think about the scenarios, think about all the weird little apps you have on your phone and the multitude of Terms of Service Agreements and Privacy Agreements you accepted without reading. Because the people behind these schemes - some of them BILLIONARES - are LOVERS of people like you and me who are just waiting to fall into their clutches.

Billionaire Lovers was a truly astonishing EXPERIENCE (✿_✿) I checked the tags first as usual, took seriously all the warnings but still I didn't expect THAT O_O Psychological horror is presented here in a great way. I applaud.

This story is about some scam and fraud. And seriously, I was deceived in this game in so many ways I don't know even to feel amazed or hurt xD First of all, dunno even why but I was so sure I was about to play a cute otome novel. Perhaps typically adorable art style of the love options is partially at blame. Yeah, I read the description in the store page but...buuuut I didn't expect it to be THAT intense! So powerful, so emotional. I'm deeply impressed!

They warn you so many times at the start of the game and even advise to stop if you feel uncomfortable. Honestly, I didn't believe them xD I was smirking while clicking continue all the time thinking I'm mature and experienced enough not to be effected by that story to that extent I'll be ready to quit but aaahhhhhhhhh If only not the vague hope of happy ending (and I wasn't sure it's even there till the very end) perhaps I'd actually drop it. That's amazing how well-written, well-made this game is.

The way everything is organized is truly awesome. Gosh, perhaps it's gonna be spoilerish a little bit but the story is made this way that no matter how smart you may believe you are, you are just trapped in such conditions that you have no choice but to act according to those scammers' plan. Or it'd be correctly to say you have a choice, actually you have so maany choices, buut it's just an illusion. Very often it's literally only one choice presented you have to click. Or even if your gut tells you not to take THAT choice, the other one is unreachable. That feeling of helplessness becomes truly unbearable at one point. That was so devastating.

That made me think a lot about the victim image. I was furious quite often and sometimes that anger was directed not only at the scammers. My bad, sometimes I couldn't help but accuse my mc of being too gullible. But you know, experiencing those illusionary choices, after having trusted those 'cute' guys I feel how wrong victim-blaming is. How ridiculous it is! I recollected so many real life stories about con men. How often the most vulnerable ppl become their targets, like the elderly, for example. It was especially heartbreaking to realize similar deceptions must be happening right now. And that really hurt. Just yesterday I read news how bank employee (just imagine it, not just some clueless naive person BANK EMPLOYEE, they warn us about scammers so many times) was deceived, she withdrew all her money and even took some loans and transferred that sum. It was so shocking. But then I read all those comments, people were sharing the schemes they were aware of and honestly I'm not gonna be too conceited to claim I would never be deceived myself. That's heart-wrenching. I even recalled reading Dante's 'Divine Comedy' where he put in the lowest, the most sinful, the cruelest circle of hell those who deceived the ones who had trusted them. And I always FELT that—to betray ppl who innocently trust in you is too vicious. Because most likely it will break them and will lead to serious trust issues in future.

Actually let me share with you how once I was scammed here in steam too :( I was playing dota2 all night long and somewhere in the morning when I was about to go to bed, when my brain was already lagging sleep-deprived, my best 'friend' messaged me. I mean they used his avatar pic, I didn't think even to check in that condition. They asked me to give my arcana to play one game. I kinda thought it was suspicious, totally out of his character buut I was in no condition to analyze that. In the morning when I already knew what had happened and wrote to real friend (the lying guy already deleted his profile), he mocked me, saying he would NEVER do that. I remember I bought that thing immediately again, spent 18$, learnt my lesson.

But again, what kind of lesson should it actually be?! Not to trust anyone at all?! To suspect everyone around?! Honestly that tension was so huge in the game I was so close to doing that in real life too. Like for example while playing I was reading some online article and there was a link and my thought was ah nah, I'm not gonna click it just to be safe xD Luckily, there IS happy ending in the story, there IS a guy you realize you can trust. I guess some golden mean should be in everything. We have a proverb, “Trust but verify.” I think that's it. Be always wise.

I believe this VN is perfect for a younger, naive audience.
And maybe it was targeted as such and I am out of my place here, but as I read comments I decided to give it a go and I was left with slight disappointment.
As an adult I felt bored and kept rolling my eyes, especially on the 1st and 2nd goes.

I liked the concept and idea behind this game, but it was promoted rather wrongly.
Whoever intends to buy this game read more into what it is from spoilers and then decide if you want it.
I would have rather bought smth else if only I knew what this is was about XD

after a very long time, the game finally got its english translation. the translation is very smooth and i have yet to see any issues with it(other than the beginning screen where it asks you to select a language. that is probably the only portion of the game where there is broken english). i find it hard to believe that the game was not originally in english with how detailed and error-free the translation is within my first 30 minutes of playtime.

also the story is good so far and the boys are cute. i definitely do not regret waiting for so long for the english translation. unga bunga, please step on me rich boys
