Don't pay attention to the displayed key, this icon doesn't tell you which key to press, it just means "you need to press a key soon". A short while after you see that icon, an arrow will appear in one of the four cardinal directions next to the key. So if the arrow points to the left, you have to input something that means "left".
The second problem (apart from the confusing display) is that the input isn't always working correctly. Sometimes the mouse worked for me, sometimes it didn't. Sometimes my redefined keybindings worked, sometimes only the default WASD worked. The only thing that worked reliably for me, was pressing the arrow keys on the keyboard. This is probably because those are always functional, regardless of key rebindings.
If you have rebound your keys, I would recommend to set them back to the default, as the game sometimes seems to get confused between default and customized keybinds.
So, my biggest takeaway is that WSAD ought to work - is that right? Also, do these keys change for later QTEs? Without them indicating what button, specifically, that would suck.
The keys are not supposed to change, though there is a second type of QTE that requires you to mash the "w" key as quickly and as often as you can. When that type of QTE comes up, you see a "w" on they key icon.
