I think it's better to buy the game and then refund because of lack of UW support. Sends a way better message than checking upfront and not buying at all. In my opinion derekfit did everything right.
Thanks.
this screenshot is also my exact representation of my immersive experience with the game.
playing in UWQHD (3440x1440) for a couple of years now and never looked back to 16:9, it's like looking trough a window compared to UW. however, there are still some games not supporting it which is ridiculus but understandable because some games are developed for consoles and they are stuck at 16:9 for a long time now.
however, the game itsef is very cool, I like the Supermassive stuff but after 3 games with proper 21:9 support I'm a little bit suprised why The Quarry is performing a step backwards.
21:9 is not used by enough gamers to justify it for many publishers. It isn't hard to understand. (check the publishers for the games, ding) But it is always fun to try and poop and the theoretical console sheep. You know those console gamers are the ones ruining your raids! They have bad aim! Oh wait.
Oh, are consoles hooked up to, you know, regular displays? Hmm. Lets not support those :)
I tend to find people who lean too heavily on tech, tend not to understand basic things. VR fetishist, the 140+fps folks, and the ultra wide peps.
None of those limited use, non-standard views are free. You have to develop around them. It isn't hard to understand that it is an effort to make things look right at different aspect ratios, for example.
If you enjoy entertainment, then you can push tech to the side. If you can't, well enjoy the tech without content. Tech is nice and all, but it should always be secondary, if not tertiary.
I do hope you all ease up a bit and learn to live.
EDIT: It is also clear that many of you got merged into this thread. If you have such a nice screen, can't you use search? Valve tells you to search first! Big pixels, no search? Come on people.
Can agree with most of what you wrote and it’s understandable with indie games.. but a triple A title with triple A price tag? That’s unacceptable.
Funny. You are saying that, as if it was true. Yet most games actually do support UW. They have clearly decided that it's worth it, How do you explain that?
Sure, gameplay comes first. Not sure why people always feel the need to say that. Everyone is aware. It's more than obvious. It's also not a reason to not talk about tech stuff. Because it's also very, very important. It can greatly enhance your experience, and at worst completely ruin it.
