Most games nowadays when they release are 70 bucks just for the STANDARD EDITION.
40 bucks is cheap to americans... in europe its different... its £33 here.
I can get Wukong for £40 a way bigger title, different game for sure but just for new game comparison, Wukong has a way bigger budget.
This is a very niche game and having such a high price will hurt and maybe kill it

Also keep in mind that this is the sort of game where people will pour hundreds of hours into.
Too expensive for what it offers ;-)
So don't buy it. Wait for a sale. Work a few extra hours. Ask your parents.
You have 50 years of video games to play, there are tens of thousands of other things you can play.
Not sure where you're getting the 33 euro figure. China is literally the only region with pricing close at 34 euro. For actual euro currency it's 60.
SoaSE2 is only 39 euro, 11 euro less... and all of 17 euro in china (and even less in a ton of regions.) So it's kind of impossible to understand what your point is. It's nonsensical.
This game is not that niche, the original had tons of sales. Just because it isn't huge in china like Wukong is doesn't mean it's very niche. It should be zero surprise that a Chinese mythology soulslike RPG is more popular there though.
