Sins of a Solar Empire II FAQ
Q: When is Sins of a Solar Empire II released on Steam?
A: August 15, 2024.

Q: What's new from Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion?
A: A LOT. This video and write-up goes over some of the major changes.
We have put in a lot of work to make the game feel familiar for Sins I players despite the fact that it's a brand-new, 64-bit, core-neutral game engine.

Q: Is modding supported?
A: Oh yes. In fact, some of the leading modders from Sins I joined Stardock to help make Sins II.

Q: Is there a campaign?
A: Not in the base game. We will, however, be releasing an expansion pack that will include a campaign and "the 4th race". We are really focused on making sure the base game of Sins of a Solar Empire II is focused on the single-player and multiplayer sandbox experience. Not having a campaign in the base game allowed us to keep the base game price less than other new games in the genre.

Q: If I buy the Premium Edition will I get the campaign when it's released?
YES. The Premium Edition will include a series of DLC and expansions we release over the coming year or so.

Q: What is the difference between what is being released on Steam and what was available on Epic?
The version that's been available on Epic was equivalent to Sins of a Solar Empire I (v1.0). However, we knew that most people who have played Sins of a Solar Empire were actually playing Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion (released 4 years after the original game) so we decided to make the Steam release be akin to Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion II but we didn't want to call the game Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion II (that's a mouthful). Players with the Epic version will also receive this version for free as well. Hence, the August 15 release of Sins II contains over a year's worth of new features and content over what was previously available.

Q: If I bought the game on Epic, can I get a Steam key?
A: We plan to have a link soon after release to allow players to transfer their key over if you bought the game prior to June 2024.

Q: What is your long-term plan to support Sins of a Solar Empire II?
A: We have years' worth of free updates in the works as well as expansions and DLCs in the future. We want to find the right balance between free updates and DLC. The goal is to ensure that Sins of a Solar Empire II continues to evolve for many years to come.

Q: Will it run on my computer?
A: Probably. The new Iron engine was designed to run on legacy hardware as long as it supports DirectX 11.

That is upcoming content. None of it is released as of now. It will get unlocked in the future.

well i hope each faction has their own campaign my love for Vasari still strong when i play the first of this series. another one of concerns would be i would have keep Mobile rule any capital ship or on a colony ship and the titan but limit star base mobile rule ability to one to prevent mass spam which made senses to me it was over powered.

I have a few questions:
1) The diplomacy screen is to hard to tell what standing you have with each faction or AI. Do you plan on revisiting this to at-least show the same information that is available in Sins 1??

2) Do you have any plans on updating star bases? They seem to be missing a few unique abilities that were present in sins 1. Plus this is just my opinion. Star bases should not stop fighting wen they go into hull or just give them more armor since even a fully armored station melts to fast for you to do anything about it.

3) Do you plan to bring back some iconic ship from sins one like the Vasari wave cruiser, Terran Kodiac also the vasari battleship that spawns nanite swarms, The Terran boarding crew ship?

4) Super weapons. The Vasari not having one seams off. Do you plan on giving theirs back so they can phase jump to targeted worlds. Also the range of super weapons are to short. They should be able to target anything that orbits that star. But i would say there needs to be a cool down before they can target the same planet. <<---Would you consider this?

I started the game again a while ago. 1v1 single player, Easy AI, small random map. And there is no pirate base there either. Maybe pirates are only for multiplayer ???

Naw some maps don't have them. Just try a bigger map. Not sure if they are on all 1v1 maps.

Pirates are now one of minor factions. They spawn randomly, the bigger the map the more minor factions there are. However, TEC Primacy should spawn at least 1 pirate base if I understand it right.

Can you increase Multiplayer match automatically, sometimes there are too few people, wait too long after setting up the host. thank you

Ok, that should be all y'all. Appreciation for an often thankless job. As an aside, I decided to buy the game as a good team can make a rough gem into a royal jewel (I speak from experience being a rabid EgoSoft player). Be well and hope all y'all get the success you deserve!

Have you fixed fleet orders? If you move your fleet to attack, your units are subdivided into their class but do not stay together. Flak won't stay with ranged, certain units won't keep a distance and you can't easily group class types pre-battle unless you make individual fleets for each ship class. It's an easy way to lose during the battle, dragging your mouse also struggles to select between strikecraft and vessels.
