Agent 64: Spies Never Die

Agent 64: Spies Never Die

How's the game's difficulty?
compared to Goldeneye, Perfect Dark and TimeSplitters?

agent difficulty is like easy mode. as russjg said, it has less objectives.
one hting i have noticed that you lose less health whne hit compared to special agent, which is like medium.

one thing is, if you want to unlock the nexy act, you need to unlock cypher tokens. i had to play one level in speical agent to get enough cypher to unlock it. no idea why this is required if you just want to play the story.
As the other poster said, to actually progress the game you need the medium special agent mode, not agent mode. I happened to read this in a review so I used the medium special agent mode.

I died twice even when trying to do my best. There's no save anywhere function or quicksave. Once you die you start all the way at the beginning of the level. Even modern players who used a retrode to play the Goldeneye cartridge on a PC emulator can now use save states.

Unless you really want to keep playing levels over and over and over again, you might want to give this a miss. I tried to give this a chance but I have a life other than gaming so replaying the same mission over and over because I was unable to 'git gud' has no appeal for me. Unless you just HAVE to play an FPS game where your character is a spy, go play the Heretic/Hexen remaster instead which takes 1990s games yet also adds in the appropriate modern adjustments (including keeping a save anywhere feature which was already standard on PC games at the time--the only reason Goldeneye on the N64 didn't have it was becaue of general console limitations). No offense to the dev if they're reading this but I'm already regretting this purchase.

the cypher is a bit frustrating. i wanted to play through the game and later do the other difficulties, but you have to collect the cyphers to progress with the story. so if you really want an easy game and just relive the old days, you will be stuck after 20 minutes or so because you need to unlock the next act.
I'm playing it on the hardest difficulty, it's harder than Goldeneye due to the number of enemies and the much better AI. They'll do things like take cover, rush you, try to flank you, etc. And I haven't seen any health or armor pickups. You have to play methodically because enemies are hiding all over the place.

This a great. Glad its more challenging than the originals considering we will all be using m&kb.

So they're closer to the Half-Life and F.E.A.R soldiers.

There are many who plays it with a gamepad (since this game is inspired by a console FPS). At least modern gamepads will still make it convenient.

Not that advanced, more like an evolved version of Goldeneye AI.
