Agent 64: Spies Never Die

Can't shoot with the controller?
I literally can't shoot with my xbox controller. I can shoot with the mouse but shooting with the controller would be nice too :)

Same here (using a wireless Xbox Series controller) and it imo really sucks.
disable steam controller input and it fixes the issue

Thanks, that fixed it for me
Heads up: if you have a ps4 controller, you will also need to use a program like DS4Windows. I'm guessing it's the same with ps5 controllers.

Weird, the steam default settings are botched somehow? Agent 64 uses the default, should work as well as any other... I'll look into it.
How do you disable Steam Controller input? Everything registers other than shoot, which is really odd.

This is a very common problem with numerous games on Steam, for reasons I don't fully understand, fwiw. Some games work with the default settings (and, indeed, require them to work as intended.) Others require us to disable them in order to work as intended, this being one of them (again, for undetermined reasons.) So, it's not just this game.
Ah I posted on another similar discussion but I'll add my notes here as well.

I played the demo on a PS4 controller connected via bluetooth. Worked fine for my first run through. On any subsequent plays I couldn't shoot or aim. Moving, switching weapons/items, opening doors worked fine.

Things I tried that didn't work
- Uninstall and re-install the demo
- Delete the game folder in My Documents
- Flip on/off all the options in the options menu

I found a workaround for shooting, which was to use steam's controller settings to bind mouse 1 to right shoulder button. But I couldn't figure out what to bind for aiming.
Follow up to my previous post:

I messed around with Steam's controller suggestions, and forced it to select "gamepad" as the controller emulation, and suddenly everything worked again. Not sure if Steam somehow switched controller configs on me after my first gameplay or what.

Right click the title, go to properties, go down to "Controller," and in the drop down menu choose to disable steam inputs.

I tried this for my self with my ps4 controller, and yes this works as well. The only problem is I can't seem to set these preference on a per game basis, only globally. With ds4Windows you can just open or close the app and then just have steam input set to off for this game only, but then that's something else you have to hunt down, so pick your poison I guess. I just wanted to clarify this to tie together the solutions and make it clear that this is still something that needs looking into.

I own a controller that has the issue, so I'm going to try a few things. No promises if it'll work.

So, alright, the triggers just don't register at all from Unity itself (individual axis are forever zero). Sounds like a bug to this version of unity.

I'm gonna do the only thing I can then: make the bump buttons do the same as what the triggers should do, and make a default Steam Input profile and remap the triggers to the bumpers.

I'll keep you posted.

It's Updated!

Reactivate steam input, and the default config should be a new one. Tell me if it works or if you have any issues with it.

You might need to select the official configuration in steam controller settings.
