Agent 64: Spies Never Die

Agent 64: Spies Never Die

Please support simultaneous mouse and gamepad
This would help deck and steam controller users play using mouse/trackball via trackpad and all gamepad buttons simultaneously - which is massively preferred! Currently despite the default steam input binding seeming ready to support this - the game locks to one input modality. Id rather not force keyboard inputs on deck/steam controller, just to access mouse and lose controller features.. thanks!

The default Steam Controller 2015 config already uses the high precision aim preset, which outputs the right trackpad as mouse, and it seems to work perfectly fine.
So this isn't true for Steam Deck, and new Steam Controller in the released version of the game. When you you select your profile, you are asked to "press a button on your controller" - which then locks you to gamepad only: mouse input from the trackpad is blocked.
Alternatively, I could map a keyboard key: but this then blocks all gamepad input and requires you remap deck/steam controller (2026) to keyboard and mouse only, which is a bit of a waste of time and kinda wastes the functionality of both.
Just checked this on my OLEDeck and had no issues there either. On the "confirm input method" screen, simply moving the mouse with the right trackpad did nothing, after pressing "A" I was still able to move the virtual mouse using the right trackpad.
The only way I was able to trigger this bug was by pressing a button on an actual mouse or a key on the keyboard, after which I had to go back to the profile selection screen using Esc and reenter the profile.
I'll retest this shortly. I'm pretty sure I tried moving the trackpad, and nothing happened, then I clicked the trackpad, which is actually mapped to right stick click - perhaps that is the culprit
Well, yeah, pressing on the right trackpad outputs as right stick click, so the game defaults to the gamepad, but it still accepts the mouse aiming, at least for me.
Retested - and I still have the issue both if using "trackpad click" or "A" button to pass the input check. The trackpad mouse doesn't work beyond that point.
I'm on DeckOLED, beta client and beta OS. I'll try switching back to stable for both to see if it makes a difference. Also using the EAC version of the game
Figured it out - it is the EAC online version of the game that does not recognise any mouse input. I imagine this is a configuration issue from when the EAC startup splash appears, and maybe mouse isn't coming through to the game. So in my view this is a bug for the online version
Launching the offline version of the game, mouse input works throughout
That's interesting, as I've just tried launching the EAC version of the game and still had no issues with right trackpad/mouse aiming.
I almost said that the game just shouldn't isolate the KBM controls even when defaulting to gamepad, bu then I realized that it's done for the local multiplayer, where one player controls the character using KBM and the other uses the gamepad.
Very! I tried switching to the stable Steam OS, and still have the same issue. I don't think I'll be able to figure much out beyond this, but if you have any testing ideas / log instructions I can try to help with those.
