In the real canon, Estir is based on Hastur, a character in a collection of stories called The King In Yellow which are part of the Lovecraftian canon on which this game is based.
The More You Google!
They're not even displaying in colors I can't perceive.
Yellow is SO Chromanormative.
You'd better not make a White joke later
Problem solved.
TBH, leave that kind of stuff to doujins and Rule34 - or, if you're inclined, go ahead and pen a rule 63 FanFic. The alternative is having either a cheap 'fix' (like an audio warping to make Estir sound male and photoshopping a beard on them or something), or paying for new art, now voice actors, modifying the existing routes, including hooking up all the secret flags, and creating a really annoying amount of work for the dev,
All that, without regarding the elephant in the room, which is;
The Developer imagined the game, and characters as such.
They chose to characterize their characters as such, commissioned art as such, and published the game as such.
Purchasing the game, then deciding that you want the game to conform to your preferences, is akin to picking up a Michael bay movie and complaining about the explosions.
Sure, it's your god-given right to like what you like, and voice your opinion about it, same as it is mine to express mine and react to yours.
But personally? If I never see another "I wish character A was gender B/Why are they like THAT and not like THIS"-type argument again, it would be at least two eternities too soon.
Because, ironically enough, it's pretty damn sexist and entitled to force a character conceived by another to conform to your gender norms and ideals.
I was just saying it would be cool; didn't mean for it to be a whole 'thing'. But this is the internet, of course it was gonna be a whole thing. Look, I really like the game. Big fan, enjoyed the content, period. Really all I meant to say is that if they wanted to do some DLC like that down the line, I would pay for it.
