1,304 games, yet to play 1,023 of those.
Yes, people buy games and just don't play outside of maybe setting up graphics but never get to it.
I bought this game back in 2023, waited till 1.0 and regret waiting. I could've refunded this game back then if I tried, but wanted to support a indie developer.
4.7 hrs in, this game is a chore, and I'm thinking about uninstalling it and moving on.
There is just nothing interesting in the world.
The blindingly ugly visuals like a rainbow farted on the screen (screenshots looked better when I bought it), with godawful story/characters/lore and the cherry on the top of dungcake, the trash-tier AI for enemies.
It's like the perfect combination of what not to do with a game. But this game is rated highly and every other developer playing this will think "YES, this is how I should make a 90s game."
I wanted to check in your reviews what is a perfect combination of what to do in video games and apparently it's Mahjong or another VS clone, out of 48 reviews only those 2 positives, among the reviews there are some where you left a negative review at 25hrs but went to play another 60hrs? That doesn't add up.
To be fair, as someone who fondly remembers the ps1 era, this game isn't much different mechanically than Shadow Tower, King's Field, or Ultima Underworld, the 3 games it seems to be sort of based on. Go back and play them and honestly tell me the combat difficulty or AI is any better. Only King'sfield is tougher, but that's because of all the jank it had. I loved it, but still.
But then after that, only just above 50% of people get the "build a habitat" achievement. Which basically means almost half the players drop out before the game even gets going.
edit : and with the wipe, people have to restart from zero and not everyone like or have time for that, even if the new start zone / tuto, and all the 1.0 (and previous) additions may be worth it
Game works fine just play it if you want to.
I mean okay, but that doesn't mean you have to do the same thing thirty years later just because you have retro graphics.
I'm enjoying the exploration, but the combat in this isn't even as good as Shadow Tower's sequel. They may as well not have bothered to include it.
I'm a Unity developer, and you could code the combat from this up in a single day by yourself. And make it better to boot.
Played for like 11 hours and saw most of the content, I will probably try to 100% this time
And the saves from early access were wiped so a lot of people needing to start from square one on it
