steam says game is compatable with mac, but game crashes
This is more an FYI for the devs. For some reason after buying the game it shows up on macs as a compatible game. You can install it and the binary gets to the logos before crashing. Strange since in the store it seems clear it only supports windows.

Yes, game installs and then shows the dog logo screen and then crashes out.

Hi there, thank you for flagging this so that we could resolve it. We do not have a mac version of Blue Prince at this time. However, if you have Xbox Game Pass you can play Blue Prince on Mac via the Cloud.
I'm running Blue Prince on a Macbook M3 using Crossover. It's particularly laggy. Has anyone found settings in Crossover that help this to run more smoothly? I lowered the in-game frame rate cap to 30, which only helped a little.

I am running on M4pro with Kegworks. Frame rate is smooth but I only have one resolution option and the remaining steps as well the collected currency in the map view are cut of. Is that an issue in Crossover as well?

Ah, I hadn't really gotten the game to be playable yet because of the lag, so I didn't even notice those issues. Yes, I see now that the currency and steps are also cut off in Crossover. I solved the issue of choppy graphics after closing and re-launching after the frame rate limit was set lower. It probably also helped that I quit Baba is You running in the background, even though that's a pretty lightweight game.
I still have poor input lag - If I quickly tap the arrow to move forward, I'll see the screen change about a second later in response; so even though the graphics flow smoothly now, they are delayed.
2048x1280 is the only resolution I can select.
Oddly, however, the resolution starts at 5120x2880, but when I click to change it, it's no longer an option. Switching to the lower resolution though, doesn't seem to impact performance.

Figured out that i can use BetterDisplay to force a desktop resolution of 1920 x 1080 that fixes my issue by adding black bars to the top and bottom.

One last update: While I can't change the resolution in game, if I change the desktop resolution in MacOS, this becomes the resolution when I open the game. The lower the resolution of the game, the significantly less input lag I get. It's even pretty tolerable at 1470x956. However, the lower the resolution, the more of the UI gets cut off. I can't see any of my steps, coins, gems, keys anymore at that setting. I know this isn't the developer's problem, since it's a Windows-only game, but just in case someone figures it out on a Mac, let us know.
Developers: I can't wait to get home to my PC desktop! I loved the demo, and look forward to diving in deep tonight! Hopefully a Mac native version is in the works, but if not, I don't begrudge anyone for it :)

@Wolfram, you need to set an MacOS resolution with an aspect ratio of full HD (any multiple of 1920 x 1080) for the UI not to be cut of. As the displays of MacBooks are slightly higher, the Settings app wont allow this natively. But you can use a 3rd party tool to like https://betterdisplay.pro to archive this.

Or, you wait for the widescreen patch, and hope they support more screen resolutions.
Just confirming this game believes it can install on Mac, but obviously can't since there's no Mac executable. Great game, love it, give me my house old man etc
@Huiii Thank you so much! I tried BetterDisplay from your earlier post, but the resolution clarification helped me set it properly. I was still a bit laggy on an M3 at 1080p, but 1280x720 did the trick. Not the sharpest graphics, but it does the job, and runs smoothly. It took some tinkering to figure out how to unlock custom resolutions in BetterDisplay, but I got there eventually.

@playstayxian Yes, that is correct. On native MacOS, Steam thinks BluePrince is compatible and will download and "install" it. I got as far as getting a green Play button, but if I click it, I get a missing .exe error.
There must have been a Mac version planned and worked on at some point. The ability for the game to be installed on Mac means there's a build available and able to be downloaded. The launch settings from steam try to launch a .exe file, but an actual Mac application is downloaded if you go to the local files. Launching it shows what appears to be an old version of the Dogubomb logo, which crashes afterwards.

The steam store page shows Mac is not supported, but having a downloadable Mac build does show that it was considered at some point. Sadly, trying to run the game through Crossover/Wine has too many issues for it to be reasonably playable, despite modern Macs likely being fully capable of playing the game as far as performance is concerned.
I can confirm that when buying the game under MacOS, there is no warning about not being supported on MacOS. In addition, it *appears* to install normally on MacOS. Then, when trying to run the game it reports that there is a missing exe file. The player has no clue as to what is going on since Steam appears to indicate the game is installed and ready do go. If it is not intended to be used on MacOS, you should contact Steam and ensure it is updated to stop attempting MacOS installs that do not work. I have to imagine that most people on MacOS have no idea why it isn't working and might just leave negative reviews.
