Imagine Blue Prince as a continuous experience
I wanted to share my thoughts on Blue Prince and hear what others think about the game’s structure.

I love the intricate puzzles and the sense of mystery, but I think the "steps" mechanic really disrupts the immersion and flow of the game.

One of the biggest frustrations I encountered was being so close to solving a puzzle, only to have the game abruptly end my investigation because I forgot about the "steps".

This not only killed the momentum but also meant that when I started a new day, I found myself on a completely different path, never getting the chance to resolve that initial puzzle I was so curious about.

This cycle of abrupt day endings and forced restarts makes it feel like you have to rely on guides or sheer luck to find your way through the game. It breaks the sense of a continuous, immersive investigation and turns what could be a cohesive experience into a fragmented one.

I think the game would benefit immensely from being one continuous experience that you complete in a single day. the puzzles are already difficult. Then, once you finish, you could start a New Game Plus to explore different pathways and uncover other mysteries. This way, players could fully enjoy each run without needing external help to progress.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

The day endings are only abrupt if you're not paying attention to your step count, which... you should. They're a resource just like keys, gems, and coins, and if you're not aware of how many you have and how many you might need when you're making decisions, you won't get very far. Always consider how many steps you have left when you're planning rooms, and if you're going to backtrack, count how many steps it will take you to go back before you decide whether it's worth it.

Personally, I find steps to be by far the most generous resource. There have only been a couple of times I actually ran out; it's far more common for me to have >50 steps left but be out of keys or be presented with only dead end options. Resetting is necessary because eventually you will run out of options, or you'll find that you need to arrange rooms in a different pattern to accomplish a goal. While I do get frustrated with the RNG sometimes, it wouldn't be possible to change that without fundamentally changing how the game is designed; and I don't think giving a player unlimited steps would have any meaningful effect other than causing some players to waste time combing over their manors in excessive detail, convinced they're missing something, when they really just need to reset and try something different.
It's impossible to fit the game into one day.
You can get to the 46th room in one day, with a LOT of luck and knowledge from previous runs. But you would miss out on so much else of the game.

Resetting the mansion is a core mechanic of the game and a requirement. I strongly advise you to not try to work around that. You don't want the same over and over. You want to have new configurations.

So, it would be possible, if you remove steps but keep "Call it a Day" option
