What the hell is wrong with this year's FM?
Why is this so brainlessly easy this year? I mean, I'm currently playing Man Utd first half season. I didn't buy anyone for the summer and use 4-2-3-1 Gegenpress, tweak the mentality to attacking and that's it. I've been winning games AT LEAST by 3 goals every match. Even against City (at home) I won 5-0, Arsenal 2 days later on Boxing Day I won 4-1. Against clubs like Brighton I won 8-1.

What? Why?? Ronaldo, Bruno, Sancho and Greenwood just keep banging goals like it's nobody's business. FM 21 isn't this easy as far as I remember.

I won the premier league with man utd 132 goals, 105 point, break every damn record and lost against arsenal cl semi final for some reason. The game takes a completely ridiculous turn in the cl semi-finals and finals. I don't know if anyone noticed this issue but I think it's a bug. Even if I win the semi-finals or finals, there are very strange matches compared to normal matches.

I have to agree. I am managing in a journeyman save. I got a club in Brazils lowest tier, Floresta. They are broke. I used mostly my youth team, and signed a bunch of old players on frees. Promotion after promotion.

I am now in my first season in the Brazilian Serie A and in first position, 4 points ahead and its half way through the season.

So far I have spent 180k total this year and the media prediction was 20th (out of 20 clubs)

Glad I'm not the only one running into this problem. This makes the game really really boring for me. I'm on January 1st 2022 now and I lost interest in my current United save which again, I didn't buy anyone new, only selling some deadweight players and replaced some coaches. Tactic-wise, it's just as bland as it gets.

Manchester United do have a solid collection of players, with a lot of pace and then technical brilliance mixed in.

A tactic that plays to their strengths will naturally come across more favourably and once you start to get wins and as long as you're not messing up on the training/press conference/player interaction front you're likely putting yourself in a good overall position.

One reason why CL semi finals & finals can feel very different is they're very important games and so the important matches attribute will really come through there. You're also in a situation where there's very little to lose all around. If an AI team is behind in either of these situations then they will throw caution to the wind and in a situation where both teams are going all out it probably feels very differently to the meeker league games where teams might focus initially on frustrating/preserving a point against you.

Weird, Im finding it the opposite, this has been the hardest FM to date, nothing I do seems to get a striker scoring goals.

Thats really odd... my striker has 11 finishing and 11 composure and has banged in over 120 goals in the same-ish amount of games.

Guy complains game is too easy yet is playing with a top three squad in the game. smh

gotta admit, Man United is a little OP in the game.

Also this thread is bad luck. I went on a losing streak after I said it was too easy also.

lol

I guess that makes sense... Well I suppose I'll try to play some more until the next half of the next season and see how it goes. Maybe I'll do lower league teams if United gets too easy. Thanks for the reply! Cheers!

Edit: Why does Maguire's pace got a boost from last time? XD if anything he should be slower and lower concentration lmao. Well I guess that's fine haha. Thanks again for the reply!

You can dominate lower tier leagues/countries with a solid tactic.

Additionally, the first year in the game will provide you with the best results 90% of the time. When you get to season 3 then give us an update.

It´s always going to be easy with top tier teams, you can basically just plug and play any tactic and you´ll get results as long as you have good enough players. To me personally, the game is pretty hard to play not because I have a particularly difficult time winning games but simply due to the fact that the ME annoys me to no end and therefore I can hardly stomach going through 3-4 matches in a row without wanting to end the save. The AI is painfully bad.

I've always played United as my first save in all my FMs and I never ever have the problem of always winning every games with at least 3 goals difference, trouncing City 5-1, Brightion 8-1 and recently knocked PSG out of CL with 7-2 aggregate. The problem is not that I'm complaining I'm winning but how I'm winning. It's just boring seeing my players score 4 goals in the first half.

I feel like it didnt use to be that bad though :( ... I still play one of my favourite FM 2017 because I just cant feel the new one being right butI did want to support SI after a long time (wont make that mistake again). And its not just ME and AI. The media and ridiculous meetings/conferences, annoyingly screwed up statistics (this one should have been easy! in all my saves in all low tier leagues in the world the clubs have consistently 85-95% pass success which IRL is mostly reserved for the best clubs in the world, these things are pretty immersion breaking), etc etc.

Well I am back to this thread, once again DO NOT underestimate this games difficulty. I got back to back to back promotions, was 1st in the top tier - 4 points clear after 17 games.
I have now lost 6 games in a row - sometimes getting brutally FM'd.

Last match... 26 shots, 10 ccc, xg was insane, like 5+...opposition had 7 shots, 3 on target xg was 0.9...I was 1-0 up with 4 minutes left (of injury time).

Lucas Moura and Diego Costa decided to show up in the final 4 minutes and I lost 2-1...

I have lost the majority of these games in the final minutes and I have a defensive tactic that I change to, I time waste, I play for set pieces etc...

Next game I won't bother changing tactics at all. I am kind of fed up dominating then losing in the final minutes.

Moral of the story...game is randomly difficult when form and morale plummet and/or changing to a defensive tactic (if its probably not the best).

I started with Gloucester, got promoted 3 times in a row, moved on the Birmingham in League One, got promoted instantly with 15 points clear of 2nd and in the following season in championship, I'm now 1st with a series of 27 wins in a row.

I wonder how this happened, I've been playing FM since 2011 and it was never that broken before. What is wrong in this year's game? Why so easy?
