Some role design and faction from another similar game
Hi Herbert,

I recently noticed Goose Goose Duck and this is a type of Mafia game I love.
However, I do find some similarities between this game and another custom map of Star Craft 2 named "Mafia".
I am not sure about whether the Goose Goose Duck dev has been inspired by many other games or not, but anyway I believe you may find some ideas from the map "Mafia"(including role designs and new game modes).

I will talk about factions first, then talk about game set ups because "Mafia" is complex.

Factions
"Mafia" is a map that allows maximum 15 player that has 4 factions.
1. Town: equivalent of goose, but town has more number of roles than the number of gooses' roles.
For example: town has a town government roles such as Mayer (1 Mayer vote=3 votes, must reveal himself in the voting session), Marshall (can lynch up to 2/3 players in 1 voting session, must reveal himself during the voting session), etc.
There are also bus driver, doc, bodyguard, vigilante, look out, sheriff etc but I don't think it suits Goose Goose Duck, these roles have different interactions and mechanisms and contribute to level of complexity of "Mafia" so the game is more fun.

2. Mafia == 3. Triads (equivalent of duck)

Mafia and Triads have identical roles that have exactly the same mechanisms and interactions but their only difference is the name.
For example, the equivalent Godfather in Triads is the Dragonhead, both do the same task, only names are different.

Both Mafia and Triads can exist in 1 game if the game setting is made properly, so the game can be more fun.

I believe roles of duck is in fact diverse enough so there are little to talk about, I mention Triads because a new faction can add another layer of game complexity, I will talk about it in game set ups.

4. neutral

Cultists:
"Mafia" also has a role very similar to "Pigeon" in Goose Goose Duck, that is cultist, cultist can convert one player to cultist every 2 turns, but cannot convert certain roles such as mafia, triads or another other roles that can kill.
If cultist converted the Mayor (whose vote=3 votes), then that Mayor becomes a cultist who has 3 vote. Depending on settings, the mayor can be op-in to lose 3 vote when converted to cultists, so the game has more balance.
The win condition is to make all alive players become cultists.

Auditor:
Auditor makes 1 player lose his/her ability. If auditor is in Goose Goose Duck, then the auditor makes a goose role become a goose that has no abilities, and makes a duck role become a duck that has no abilities.
The win condition is to survive until the game ends.
I guess you wouldn't like this role because it may ruins other players' experience.

Survivor:
Very simple, can be immune to attack for a number of times.
The win condition is to survive until the game ends.

and there are many other roles.

Game set ups

Usually the game set up is 8 3 3 1. Similar to Goose Goose Duck, it has:
8 towns (8 Goose),
3 mafia (3 Duck)
3 neutral (3 neutral)
and 1 total random role that can be either town, mafia, neutral

For cultist set up:
8 towns
3 mafia
3 neutral (1 cultist, 1 witch doc, + 1 neutral killing)
1 total random

For mafia vs triad set up:
8 town
3 mafia
3 triad
1 total random

While new roles ideas are welcome, the crew prefer to come up with more original ideas. They are familiar with games like Town of Salem, and thus are familiar with the ideas, but they probably won't have a completely separate faction working against the ducks and geese both.
