We'll randomly be playing a mission when DoW 2 will completely freeze and the screen turns black. It's impossible to continue the game from this point, and I can't even regain control of my computer using Ctrl-Alt-Delete because DoW still has control over the cursor and I can't click anything on the desktop, not even the Task Manager screen. So the only way to actually regain control of my computer is to either sign out or restart.
This is INCREDIBLY ANNOYING and has caused us to lose multiple missions through no fault of our own.
I tried ilsarmng's fix, it didn't work. Some help would really be appreciated, Sega.
Edit: I can in fact confirm it's doing this with one very specific mission: the Eldar defense mission on Tyhpon Primaris at the end of the game. Crashes on the third wave every. Single. Time.
I'm this guy's co-op partner. I'm not even having this problem, he is, and it's causing us to randomly lose deployments. Whenever his game crashes, I gain control of his units for about 40 seconds, and then the game kicks me out due to "A sign-in change has occurred" and we lose the entire deployment.
This is an absolutely ridiculous bug.
@Arcterran I use the GeForce Experience software and my driver is as update as it can be, i don't use beta drivers
@CtrlAltDestroy I never play mulitplayer and i get the "A sign-in change has occurred" it must be some residue from GFWL
This is a problem that didn't happen at Xmas but is happening now, something has been updated and is causing a problem
It's too bad... it seems like Sega has mostly abandoned DoW 2 these days. I remember when they first acquired the franchise there was a flurry of dev activity, and a few of the devs even helped me diagnose a really annoying obscure crashing issue here on the Steam forums. Now there's nothing but silence.
I only use it casue i paid for it, NEVER again will Microsoft get my money. SteamOS is the future of Gaming Rigs and Tablets are the current/future of browsing And Microsoft will be stuck with businesses And we all know how businesses just love to update software. Where i work we still have a PC that runs Windows 3.1 for workgroups!!!!
Sorry I don't have any love for Microsoft and this is the wrong place to spout it. back to the problem.
This problem is new, i was playing fine all over Xmas. I was off work with an injury and thought i'd play a Retribution campaing with a race I've not used before (Imperial Guard). A couple hours in was the first crash to desk top, with an error report programme ready and waiting, which i sent.
This happened a few more times then i got the "A Sign In Change Has Occurred" error and was back to main menu. I was playing solo in the campaign.
I gave up with Retribution and went to play the original DoW2 campaign and the same crashes happened and during Chaos Rising campaign
