Shame that the game is on rails
So I got to day 5 and could not go to bed because I did not complete to-do.
But I did not have any to-do because I did not buy the rifle. So I went insane and lost 10 dollars.
It is a shame the game forces you on rails like this. Would prefer to set my own pace...

Sounds like you needed to do some more farming to maintain some sanity.

Maybe you should read before typing.

Once you finish all the to-dos, you just have to wait until night fall and go to sleep. The bed icon in the top right corner will tell you when you need to go. Wait too long after that, and you're out cold regardless. I finished the demo around day 12. raised 24 chickens for the rifle money, grew 2 extra rows of tomatoes on the side, bought everything and saw quite a lot of spooky stuff. The developer has stated there will be an endless mode, too, so... I think you just kind of jumped the gun.

I didn't. What happened is the game must have glitched and did not let me sleep even when the bed symbol was up. This was following a day where I had nothing on the to-do.
I have played it again and was able to sleep in the same situation.

Endless mode sounds good depending on how the developer can implement enough 'spooky' events.

The game it's not even in early access yet, it's just a bug. Only play the same day again

I'm quite sure what you call "rails" is exactly one of the important parts of the game and story. To feel this urge, this necessity of following the ToDo list "or else" and of doing what you can to stay sane.
I played until day 14, had everything done but two skill raises and filling the map (I guess) and everything went fine. I just kept growing tomatos, looking for the chicken, the things you could do on the farm.
I could imagine it would not have been sufficient at some point of time, maybe loneliness or what was haunting the character would have started to demand more. But farming and keeping tidy works.

Apart from that, when I still had things on my ToDo list, I would be able to go to bed when it was late enough, even when things weren't finished yet.

Not sure whether having an endless mode with "enough spooky events" would be achievable, but maybe as a kind of 'spooks and monsters'. I can imagine it being fun following the new ideas. Yet, I'm convinced and guess right now that it would be a different game than what you can actually experience in the main mode.

As for being able to sleep on second attempt, it sounds to me like that just being later that day. Kind of even if you're spooked or not content with your day, at one point you'll be exhausted enough to just fall asleep anyway. Would fit the different sounds in the morning somewhat, too.

Sounds like you need a Big Gulp cup full of Copium easy on the ice.

This early BETA demo game literally tells you to clean your house to maintain your sanity. the fact that you told someone to read before typing is hilarious.

But the Demo is going to have bugs. You are setting your expectations insanely high in the game's current state. Hell I watched a popular streamer(Insym) play this before I did and neither of us have had any game breaking issues. Maybe English isnt your first language and there's a barrier with your understanding of the game's instructions.

Also, this isn't going to be a game that you can "set your own pace". Do your to do list or you die. Pretty simple.

As long as I kept busy the hauntings were minimal for me in my experience. I had plenty to do with 12 tomato plants and 20 chickens to manage. Didn't even explore everything fully by the time I actually decided to buy the rifle. And I sat for a week in game just doing stuff day in day out.

If you're constantly out past sundown and not doing your chores you probably had a different in game experience than I did.

It's a demo. It's supposed to be on rails somewhat. Manage your expectations better. We're all excited for the final release. This game has much potential

Pretty sure you just have to stay up until a certain time on day 5

You fall asleep after a while. I'm on Day 17 and still haven't checked out the barn, and yet I don't have to worry about sanity or anything. I'm just taking my sweet time selling eggs and tomatoes and cutting down all the grass. I don't have to worry about hauntings as long as I don't progress the story.

If you stay up past the final alert to go to bed for too long it locks you out and knocks you out I've noticed but that's your own fault not the game's
