It does when it takes away development that could otherwise be focused on making the single player amazing
This has farming, but isn't a farming simulator that multiplayer might shine in. Its a game paced for story telling. Over 80k of us who have wish listed this game did so for that experience we just had. Let's roll with it and see where it goes. Maybe multiplayer comes later. I will say though, I do understand that aspect as well though.
The entire story premise is around someone isolating themselves. Believing no one needs them, and they don't need anyone. Gameplay wise, yes coop might be fun, but emotionally wise? Story wise? It's very counter intuitive to the idea presented.
The most multiplayer aspect that could still work is if one person is either a farm animal, maybe the cat or a dog, able to 'alert' or otherwise, or if one person is the 'enemies' essentially.
