Report a translation problem
I ran into this one to, wish I could have seen that outfit at lease.
When I get all three tenets checked off in the quest menu, and then return to talk to the quest originator, the dialogue looks like the first time I approached them, and all the quest check boxes are unchecked after I'm finished talking to them. Doesn't seem to matter which order I get the tenets in. Happened consistently, even after a save and reload of the game to shake out any buggy bits of wrongly executing code.
EDIT: I was able to complete this quest after I finished the area with the whale, and after completing the treasure hunt. I had restarted the game a number of times, and a good restart always seems to help with the bugs I am encountering in this game, so not quite sure why this was so consistently buggy before.
(Nintendo Switch docked, with Pro controller. No idea where I should be reporting those bugs, so I'm here even though I'm not playing it on Steam. Can't send save files from a Switch easily, afaik).
1) Buddy Boon has no effect
When I add a +10Hp to buddies boon, it doesn't change their health.
2) 1 Dead Buddy == All Dead (looking) Buddies
Due to 1), the character has super low health at the moment. When they died in a battle, I didn't have any healing items. When I left the battle and made a different character (with full health) my tag team buddy, and joined a new battle, all of my buddies show as dead on the ground when I try to switch to them. Their health number is correct in the battle HUD, but the character started showing them dead on the ground. BUT, when I try to use them to fight, they get up and do the action I selected.
(EDIT: actually, they are only playable if the buddy is set to act first, in which case the buddy still looks dead, and is in the lower 2nd action spot even though they are set to act first. THEN sometimes they can act. But, also, sometimes the game soft locks when going from the end of the action for the "dead" character back to Loaf's action).
Or, if I get ambushed they will pop back up after taking damage. But, they always start facedown dead as long as one character is dead. Given the area that I'm in, I don't know if there is any way for me to buy health items. I only seem to get WP or RP items as drops, and there has not been an item shop yet.
EDIT: After the last soft lock happened I started seeing more HP item drops. But, eventually that low health character got killed again.
I was able to successfully revive them with an HP item, but then the same bugs with characters all starting in the dead position happened again. And the soft-lock happened again in battle when the characters were swapping from first (buddy) to second (Load) character.
When the soft lock happens, I can still open the chat with the R button. It is spinning past super fast, impossible to read, as if it is displaying every availatchat message at once. (Maybe the chat is stuck in an infinite loop somehow? Maybe that's a symptom of something else going weird? The music is at regular speed, but none of the other buttons other than R work.)
I am strong enough now that I regular one hit kill the baddies, so maybe the times that I didn't get sort locked in battle it was because there was no plaction swap because I OHKO'ed them. Hard to say, but this soft lock thing after a character was dead but then revived is really making this area ( deep inside the whale, where you can see the heart, far away from the level start, with no way to exit to buy HP items that I can find ) a PITA.
Unable to complete "Taste of Inspiration" side quest. No item is able to be given to Papa Baker at all, not the right ones or the wrong ones. If this quest is triggered before starting "Sweet Success" then you cannot complete that one either since you are locked to the inactive responses from the first quest.
Unable to get any height or distance with butterflies if Alfie is the buddy with you.
When fighting Number One in the whale both times, there is no effect for her defence increases. I did the same amount of damage with the same weapon no matter her stat buffs
I was trying to use an item in order to get a better item in my full inventory. My cursor was continuously pushing up (wasn't joycon drift because I was using a pro controller). I tried backing out of the menu but may have pressed 'A' at the same time, causing the cursor to show up on who to use the item on. Pressing 'A' would not select the character, and instead would jump. This lead me to be able to move around while still having the cursor above my head waiting for me to select a character, but not being able to do so.
I tried many things to get out of this state. I tried talking to characters, but I wasn't able to. I tried getting into battles, but wasn't able to, I tried getting damaged with water, but I just fell to the bottom of the body of water, I tried going to a loading zone to go to the next map, but I went past the loading zone to a part of the current map that is normally inaccessible. I believe my characters collision was turned off.
I reloaded my save in order to get normal functionality, but when I did, I loaded in front of Papa Baker's house, not under a save balloon. The music playing is the Midtown song, not the Uptown song. Whenever I try to save, my game crashes. Upon reloading, I continue to load in front of Papa Baker's house again. I tried getting into a battle to die and noticed the battle chat is flying at what seems like 50 to 100 messages a second. This doesn't go away in between battles or when I press the 'R' button to hide it. When I died and reloaded, I spawned outside of Papa Baker's shop again. I do not know if the out of bounds/turning off collision bug is related to the save bug or the fast battle chat bug at all.
Hopefully someone can learn some fun speedrunning tricks with the collision bug, haha.
DUB, Lint, and Alfie all have something to say there, though.
Is this a bug that will be fixed in the next update?
I tried to enter the Shivering Caves to get back to town, and the game soft locked. Music was still playing, but the game was unresponsive.
Nintendo Switch, pro controller.
EDIT: To clear potential confusion, when using karate chop, Lint still spins like he's using tail whack. However, the action command matches karate chop, damage is calculated like karate chop including weakness and resistance, and you even get the white chopping effect instead of blowing leaves when executing the move.
