Map Size compared to FH4 ?
Hello,

I was very disappointed by the size of the map in FH4. You could go North-South in 5 minutes
With the lack of diversity this was my main grief against the game on the long term run.
After 1 year, it was very boring which made the obligation to play thanks to Season rewards a real chore.
I know dev said map size would be 1,5X FH4 but is it true ?

So people playing the game : Can you confirm it's a lot bigger ? If yes, how so ?
Thank you :) ! Very important point for me before purchasing the game.

In a map size comparison the FH4 world had 80km^2 and FH 5 should have about 105km^2. So it is about 30% larger. But it feels much larger than FH4 probably because its all new.

The map is bigger, but from my early impressions it lacks the personality and charm of the FH4 map.

I am really hoping they will add my favorite car the 1958 Plymouth Fury.

I switched between the two after getting bored of FH5 (rather quickly) and decided to finish up FH4 (which I got bored of last year) before continuing with FH5.

The map feels slightly bigger in FH5, yet the FH4 map felt more detailed in cities and FH4 has better nights and more weather (90% of the time it's dry, sunny and day time in FH5) making it feel more varied.

Compared to older games like TDU or ETS2, the map is pretty small.

ETS 2 has eight or so years of development and half a dozen DLC regions by now. Also, you don't go 200 miles per hour in it and a lot of roads are blocked off.

The map does feel very small for the speed of the cars. You'll have seen pretty much everything it has to offer within two hours or so, not the best if you're hoping to explore a giant open world.

Then again, I've played FUEL by Asobo Studios - after that, every map in every other driving game feels tiny, so maybe I've been spoiled...

That's meeeh....
FH4 Goliath would take between 8-11 minutes in X Class so 15 min A Class for FH5 Goliath....
Seems to me it's not more than 25% bigger map, not 50%..... :(
This saddens me a bit.
No... its 50% bigger. Its massively bigger than fh4.

FUEL was big, but it consisted of the same small repeated things over and over. You kept passing the same shed/farm.

Well, I guess a couple years later they wouldn't have had to resort to quite SO MUCH trickery, but... yeah, it had its moments, especially at virtual sunrise/sunset

The assets were reused a lot, I'll grant you, but the landscape itself didn't feel repetitive. It really nailed the ethos of an open, empty wilderness, which is one of the things which really drew me to it. And as you say, it's scenery and atmosphere could be really pretty.

Oh, I did like it. Enough to play it on both Xbox 360 and PC.
