2) GTA 3 finally has a map
3) Running while aiming down a rifle
4) Auto / Manual save
5) Weapon wheel
6) Runs better on modern systems unlike the OG ones
7) Got %80 fixed after the latest patch
8) The highest discount by the end of 2025 is most likely %65 off which is 2-3 bucks lower which is not worth waiting.
So yeah, get them.
You should really state the resolution of that 165-200fps so others have an idea of what to expect, I play at native 4K everything maxed and my trash 4080 gets nowhere near those fps numbers. I don't use DLSS either due to the ghosting effect from frame gen. Game is still pretty taxing like GTA5 at native 4K.
I have to agree with your Vice City statement, its pure awesome! The colors are amazing in VC and playing them in order really makes SA look like trash as its so much darker and gritty.
If you keep your expectations in check and go into them understanding that they have their own issues as well, you will do fine, I think.
I agree that it doesn’t quite live up to what “definitive” implies to a lot of people. They still have issues, too. There are still some weird collisions with map geometry and there are still some seams here and there that let the skybox shine through. Sometimes the procedural LOD models for distant objects look… very ugly… like molten plastic toys. If they are VERY far away, it is not too bad, but sometimes they get rendered too close are very distracting. I found them very annoying in San Fierro. That city offers a lot of views to its skyscrapers and they often look like molten plastic mounds instead of like actual buildings.
Also worth a mention is that we did get a pretty good patch only just a few months ago. It fixed many things and added in some very nice visual changes to make their mood and visual feel closer to that of the originals. It naturally didn’t fix everything… but if there are even just a few more patches like this coming down the line, I would probably not even hesitate suggesting the DE versions.
Alternative is to extensively mod the original games. Out of the box they are nigh unplayable both technically (crashes, stability, bugs, compatibility to modern systems) and controls wise. But… if you are willing to tinker with the files and install some great mods, you can get a very good experience. Still, that means messing around with the game potentially for hours just to get them to run. Possibly even more if you are not used to modding games. Especially if you want overhaul the graphics or something. Can be relatively advanced.
If you just want to play the games and not have to care about technical stuff like this, DE versions are they way to go even if they have their own flaws.
right, they are slightly deranged minds, same as hoarders or loot junkies, social etc engineered so then later can be feed upon by invasive business models.
ps on topic, the reverse engineered versions of 3 and VC are the best close to vanilla versions of the games, not these.
as for SA i would say its not a bad option but you cant buy it for SA only
in short: nope.
I only played GTASA so far and i am aware of how bad it actually is. Cars wobble for some reason, there are holes in the world, buildings missing windows, everything is either too bright or too dark, every car is shiny, some characters look dumb. Flight controls are just, no, no, no.
But as a fan i can look past that and still have some fun. Especially since i havent encountered any gamebreaking bugs.
Those Defecated Editions are modified broken versions of already broken mobile ports which ARE modified broken pc ports.
Current gamers have so low standarts it's not even funny.
