Should I play this over the original San Andreas?
Hello there, I never got into San Andreas (barely played it back in the day), I remember playing Vice City like more than 15 years ago and it was good, I finished the original vice city this year, and it suffers from being heavily outdated, but with few patches the game was fine.

I heard that this edition loses details over the original, my main concern its the plastic look these games have, cars look like toys in the vice city remaster, this one seems to look better, but still. Do you recommend playing this one over the modded original?

@Redux (Mattotk),
The recent update for GTA Trilogy: Definitive Edition introduced a host of improvements aimed at addressing long-standing complaints.
This includes restoring original lighting, better character animations, improved gunplay, and the return of certain nostalgic visual effects like volumetric clouds and birds.
San Andreas specifically saw enhancements to lighting, weather, textures, and even mission visuals, making it more polished than ever.
The update also added a "Classic Mode," which aims to recapture the original PS2-era look and feel, appealing to fans of the authentic experience

Should you play this version or modded San Andreas?
The Definitive Edition now offers a much more stable and visually refined experience, with fewer bugs and a balance between modern graphics and nostalgia.
However, some players still prefer modded originals due to their authenticity and the ability to customize extensively.

If your main concern is the "plastic" look, the updates have toned this down significantly, but the aesthetic might still feel different from the original.
A modded San Andreas can offer the exact old-school vibe but often requires more technical setup and lacks modern enhancements like updated controls.

Recommendation:
If you value convenience and a more polished experience, try the updated Definitive Edition. But if authenticity and customizability are your priorities, a modded original may still be the way to go.

Thank you for the very detailed answer, I think I'll have to look at what can be done to this edition with the use of mods, my main concern is the cartoonish like Fortnite look, the originals clearly didn't aim for that, San Andreas seems to be the better looking out of the 3, so its likely much better than for example VC when it comes to this regard.

OG is still better IMO if you're willing to mod it. Silent patch and widescreen fix are the bare minimum mods you want to install for all games. Maybe framerate vigilante too if 30 fps bothers you, but everything after that is preference, like SkyGFX for recreating PS2 graphics.

I don't really like DE but it's hard to ignore the fact the old versions don't even run properly on modern hardware, so if you don't want to screw around with mods or community patches DE is still a functional way to play the game.

Well I finished OG Vice city early this year, of course I used pretty much every mod you mentioned and a few more ike classic axis, so San Andreas controls wouldn't be a problem for me, in fact they should be better than those of VC.
honestly none is worth
I got this version for "nostalgia" but it runs worse than GTA V and gameplay is trash even though some improvements were added like autosaves, waypoints, better controls
just get skyrim or sth

Damn, I read they picked a pc port to make the mobile versions, then they ported the mobile versions to make the DE.

Yeah, the way they have ported this version from previous port for mobile devices is kinda crazy and really unfortunate.. They most annoying part while driving are the camera controls..

What happens with the camera controls? its not possible to control the camera like for example GTA 4 or any 15 year old game?

Basically if you move your camera while driving and release the mouse/stop moving it, almost instantly it auto-centre the camera which is very very annoying...
