Offline Indefinitely

Hello, I am in the Navy and due to go on deployment, I’m far from a PC expert.. I simply buy a steam game(s), click on it and play it in my down time. I will have no access to internet for at least 5 months, I always take my laptop and have never had an issue before, this time however I have bought red dead 2 and was quite disappointed that it requires an online verification (DRM) every time you load it up via the Rockstar launcher. I’m lead to believe GTA trilogy will be the same, I’m just wondering if there’s a workaround to this, such as a specific setting etc. I believe I just need it to work once. As soon as I’m away there will be no internet, no updates etc. any help is appreciated. Tia.

I’m in the same situation, also Navy. I’m sick of devs treating their customers as if they are all criminals and forcing online DRM on products we pay premiums on, especially when those devs are already making millions. Most indie devs don’t strike it big, yet they almost never impose such restrictions on us. I’ve got a game releasing to Steam myself in a few weeks, and I can’t wrap my head around any scenario in which I would feel compelled to treat my customers that way. If people really want to pirate my game, they will find a way, so I’m not going to punish loyal customers for the transgressions of others.

You should be able to put Steam in Offline mode which will trick Rockstar launcher to run in offline mode. You can play without a Internet connection you just need to set Steam in offline mode and click play. You get a msg from the Rockstar Launcher saying you can't connect to the server to try again later just wait a few seconds and click play again it will bypass the Rockstar msg and let you play offline.
