If you buy this on Steam, do you get the originals?
I know that if you buy the GTA Trilogy on the Rockstar store you get the classics included.

Rockstar has made a small but meaningful concession to gamers scorned by the remasters. The classic PC versions of each game included in the trilogy pack — Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas — are being reinstated to the Rockstar Store through June 30, 2022. Everyone who bought the PC trilogy will receive a free copy of each game in the Rockstar Games Launcher.

read closely to what you quoted there and i'll highlight in bold what you aren't seeing.
Nothing in that says Steam.

i highly doubt Rockstar or Take 2 want to give steam users the time of day by giving them the very thing that will stop the DE version being purchased and played: the original games.

in the underlined, that's pure crap, they did it to stop the users from tearing up their service and bombarding it with wholly negative reviews, it was a means to appease and then they can bury it like it never happened once the customers were happy with the originals.

if it meant anything, a concession would be like rockster coming to steam to apologise and offer the same deal in the same way and then promise to change their practices (which they will not do) and promise to do better (which they are under no obligation to follow as a business).

So what is the best way to play the original trilogy on PC? The GTA VI trailer came out and made me want to revisit the classics (I only played them on PS2)

You can *buy* them on R*. They're just not free with purchase of the DE the way they were.

Or there are places that still have a few keys for sale, but I wouldn't recommend. Most of those sites are rife with fraud or worse.

Original games were given for free for purchasing Definitive edition only on Rockstar store and only for a limited time. After that you can only buy them and only on Rockstar store and of couse you can try to buy old steam keys somewhere.

They cost the equivalent of 32 dollars in my country, guess i'll have to emulate or play them the low honor way.
