Why are people supporting/ buying this remaster?

Besides from some controls being modernized it's definitively a worse way to play the game

nostalgia in my opinion is by far the biggest one people just want to try and recapture that memory of how it felt to play it in the past but the truth is that it will never be the same.

It's just a better version of a game i already played i would have loved to see a remake instead of this remastered that makes it look graphically better but still feel old which i don't like.

SAMP was also a big part of what made gta san andreas so special so why didn't they focus on making that better?

I havent had any issues with the remaster so far, but it aint worth 60 bucks

SAMP is a mod though, it isn't made by Rockstar.

The SAMP developer actually pretty much ended the project a few years back, stating he wouldn't be developing a new version and instead would just do security updates for the version that is out.

Let's just sat lots of SAMP servers moved on to FiveM after that.

No it isn't. AND, it doesn't have the mouse issues the original has on Windows10/11, it has better graphics, and it allows for higher screen refresh rates.

It's like asking why you buy a modern car when you can have an oldtimer.

Because I have a 3440X1440 120hz monitor and an xbox controller. The original version of the game (which I own) does not support 21:9 resolutions or controllers. This version also runs very well on my steam deck. Does it have bugs? Yes. Is it imperfect? Yes. But this version I can at least play - the old version has been in my account for 10 years and I've not played it. I'm going to actually finish the game thanks to the remaster and for that I'm happy to have it.
