Are all the licensed music removed?
I heard 30 tracks are missing from the trilogy and was curious if they were the licensed songs. I ask because as silly as it sounds, but without those songs I won't buy. Those songs hold significant memories of the original games for me, so that nostalgic experience will be lost especially when the game is priced premium

If you have the original game on the original disc, you can play with the original soundtrack.

If you bought the game later, the publisher made changes.

You're welcome to not like those changes - but in most cases the licensing fees for songs doubled, tripled, or more due to the exposure the song got simply by being in the game. R* isn't going to pay the estate of Michael Jackson $5 million per song annually to license his music in the game when it doesn't make $15 million in annual revenue/sales.

And these are also the same people complaining about the cost of the game - part of that cost is to pay for these damn music licenses, since that cost never decreases.
Michael Jackson is worth the price

So you'd be OK with paying $90 USD for this trilogy to pay for those licenses, then? When the second most frequent complaint about this entire trilogy is that it's overpriced?

What makes you think the price is due to licensing when they're selling the originals for less and literally just re-released RDR at premium price

... the originals also have the tracks removed, IIRC, and that's part of why most players use a downgrader to restore it to version 1.0.

so what do you expect? rockstar to keep paying for licensed music forever?

I expect Rockstar not to make crappy deals where music has to be removed in the future. At least for me the music is not the end of the world.

Know how I know you don't know a thing about how the music industry works?

Perpetual permanent licenses are an order of magnitude more expensive than a simple usage license.

So why is the trilogy expensive

Because R* likes money, and you're paying $20 USD a game for three games.

This is true. All digital versions have the cut music. You can only get all the original tracks if you own the original disc version.
Strange..... this list shows whats removed. BUT I played without mods and I heard

"Come On Feel The Noize" by Quiet Riot
Video Killed The Radio Star" by The Buggles

Has rockstart put them back into it?
Can anyone who owns the game tell me if any of the music was added in the new update? I've seen some people saying they did, some saying they didn't and I don't know what to believe
See my previous post. I can definetly tell that these two songs are back in. But for example the Michael Jackson Song playing at first when you enter the first car in the alley beneath rosenberg does not play it anymore. I think they definielty added a few more
A simple one file drag and drop mod will fix your problem with the missing music, One file copied inside one folder and its done.

I installed the mod for the missing songs and have not heard a single one played once. I listen to v-rock mostly and even added the mod that adds the songs from GTA: Vice City Stories, but still never heard a single new/missing song yet. I don't get it.

Some tracks are removed yes. Not that many though, 8 are gone from Vice City DE and 17 from San Andreas DE. GTA 3 DE has all songs intact: https://screenrant.com/gta-trilogy-soundtrack-vice-city-radio-stations-missing-songs/
They can be restored using mods. Go to nexusmods and search for "definitive edition radio stations restored".
thanks for the clear answer, ill stick with the original. as i dont like nexusmods.
are all songs from emotion radio is stil intact in this new version ??
Just use this mod to recover radio stations:
https://www.nexusmods.com/grandtheftautothetrilogy/mods/681?tab=files

Go to the directory where the game is installed and go where the paks file is located:

Example: D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\GTA Vice City - The Definitive Edition\Gameface\Content\Paks

Make a folder named: "~mods" in that Content folder

Place the "~mod" in this folder and that's it.
