No gun sound at all? Mods not working?

Can anyone help, I hear no noise from guns at all, all other noise fine, even melee/chainsaw but nothing from firing any guns. Also are mods broken? I put the ones for restored music tracks, fog, etc in the Paks/~mods folder but so far the only one that seems to be working is the radio icon colours.
