Skills - Additional Effects
Maybe I'm blind or I just don't get it, but if a skill has an additional effect, shouldn't that actually do something? Like attacks that have AOE as an additional effect, it says it should attack other enemies for 5% of the original (I assume unboosted) attack, and yet, that doesn't actually happen. Is it just a broken system right now or is there something I'm suppose to do to make those effects actually happen (cuz I thought they were suppose to be automatic).

You are supposed to activate formations (you can see it on an Additional Effects tooltip in Party screen).

Physical for Penetrate, Guard Break, Toughness.
Magical for AOE, Drain, Blessing.
Friendly for Luck, Collection, Atk-Attachment, Def-Attachment.
The rest are automatic all the time.

So does that mean that the physical additional effects are only active for the short time that the physical formation is active?

Yes. For 30 seconds every 3 minutes.

oh man, totally missed this part of the game. I've always kept the formation on friendly so I get more research. Sheesh. Thanks for the slap upside the head.

Since all of these are active so little, I've completely ignored them. They don't do enough to be part of it IMO.

well, after you play for a while you can easiily have them active for longer, quest and other small boni add up

i am at 37 seconds cd and 3 mins 27 sec active time

and the effects of etc are always active, even when you cant see it, so you can reduce the time further

edit: and the active time is enough to bash some bosses down, the additional damage from aoe is enough to safe weeks of gluttony (or status up) sometimes

How long did it take you to get to the point where active time equaled cooldown time?

i started about 2 years ago, but it should be way faster now, since envy didnt exist then

Yeah, I've noticed that particular Envy routine does good work. Too bad it must already be obsolete for you then, but it means you no longer need to spend habit on it, at least.
