Cooking Workshop vs. Orphanage (Movement question)
I've unlocked the Orphanage, and I got up to "Sister's Absence", where the next bit of story (Go to Sister's Boudoir) costs 1 movement.

Is this important to do ASAP, or might waiting be a good idea?

It's my first run/reincarnation, and I'm at the stone golem (but can't beat it yet).

I have 2 Movement, and I could unlock the Cooking Workshop, which I'm guessing is a much better Movement investment, as I assume it'll open up all sorts of cooking recipes for Gluttony.

Any reason to follow he Orphanage branch before unlocking cooking? I don't expect to get a whole other Movement point anytime soon.

Thanks.

the orphanage is the least important questline in academy city in the beginning as far as i recall

You wont open up many recipes tho as you are still early in the game. Allot of the recipes need ingredients from later in game. I dont believe you have gluttony yet either to eat all that food you can make. until you open up gluttony doesnt make much of a difference.

You can unlock Gluttony in the forest.

Pretty sure I had it before I even got to the city, but even if not, I definitely had it by the time cooking became an option; it's why I was interested in it.

As you say, though, I could only unlock a couple of recipes at first.

Still, I'm glad I went with cooking first, as pretty much every action you take in regards to cooking (talking to chefs & learning recipes) gives you movement, so I was quite wrong about not getting another movement point any time soon, and I unlocked the Orphanage soon after.

I suspect the destiny grind to progress through the orphanage path would have taken longer to get back the point I'd need to unlock cooking.

And even with limited recipes to start with, they were still a nice boost to get.

Honestly, this is where the game opened up for me, as after making this post, I read up more on stuff, and realized I could keep eating as much as I wanted, I didn't have to stop at 100%... Gluttony would grow drastically more slowly afterwards, but I could still get the stat bonuses.

I was thinking gluttony opened up on your first reincarnation like the others as you progress farther. Yep, it does open up much sooner so it is worth to pick cooking.

Glut will be there at the start of your next run so you can eat the anchovy sandwiches before you leave the village to gain stats.

I think it used to open up later like that in previous versions of the game, or something like that, but was changed to become available earlier. So you're not completely imagining things. ;)

At this point I'm pretty much done with my first reincarnation. Unlocked 2 sins before bed, was only missing Scarlet Dragon to max out as a summon in terms of luck (still have a few to max on seeds), so let that run while I slept and now it's done.

I probably -should- reincarnate now, but I'm tempted to go for 3 sins, and see if I can manage to maybe make a dent in the Vast Desert... I seem to be nowhere near able to do that, though, so it's probably a waste of time.

well, the first reincarnation is normally quite long, and that means you should be quite strong at this point
see if you can get one or two summons from desert
you can max them at the demon king (as you can do with all rare mobs)
if you can manage to kill some mobs from desert now i would reccomend that, since the next few reincarnations should be fast and not focus to much on desert

in regards to sin, take you 2 sin and reincarnate, you will make more sins faster than if you farm longer, i dont reccomend to stay for one more sin if you arent at 2.9 or so

Ended up maxing out all my summons (other than Vast Desert ones) and got to 3 sin.

So I went to the desert, and... managed to get summons for each!

Guess I might as well get the research for them from DK before I reincarnate. It'll give me something to spend seeds on next run other than Blazing Aura.

I mean, Blazing Aura has an upgrade in the Akashic Record that adds 10% of its value as a percentage to your stats, making it even better, so you'll have it up to a full 100% added to your stats. For example, my Blazing Aura gives 89.511 to all my stats, so it also gives me an additional 89.511% to my stats

Good to know, thanks!
